This eruption is even larger than the first, this is incredible. The first was a solid VEI 4 by itself with about .40 cubic kilometers of erupted material. Given this blast now is even larger, there really is a chance for a collective VEI 5 event here. 

These are incredible sequences of lava dome creation and destruction, like Shiveluch last year but even larger and more powerful.

I can remember the big beach crowds before the season began. It gets really packed once the train crowds arrive from NYC. Gino’s is a goldmine with a line out the door as many people stop there first. It was my favorite pizza on Long Island. Now near New Haven it’s a pizza lovers paradise. Just had Modern pizza from New Haven over the weekend and it’s one of the best pizzas that I ever had. 

Gino's was my first and favorite pizza as a kid on Long Island too.  I think I was 9 years old when I first had it.

it's really interesting, there was no prediction of any rain for today and yet it happened (for some-- there was zero rain here).

Yes it is, but it does seem to explain the main reason why the public doesn't seem to care that much about a warmer climate, they probably like the idea of a warmer climate.  It hits differently if you talk about higher asthma rates, lung damage, heart attacks and other health conditions stemming from emissions and the pollution they create.

I enjoy a few torch days this time of year, but I wouldn't want it consistently hot this early. May is the big lettuce month, and obviously the lettuce crop wouldn't be as good if it was hot all the time. I can wait until June for the consistent hot weather. I'm glad we're going back to more normal highs in the 60s and 70s after today. 

I like a combo of cool and warm weather too, as long as it's sunny on most days.  Rain once a week or once every 10 days.  I can do without mist and fog though, that's pretty much useless.

We're getting more blocking patterns in April and May, but I'm not sure if they are back door fronts.  With temps dropping into the mid-upper 30s, they seem more like pseudowinter type arctic fronts.  Instead of getting those in the winter when we're supposed to be getting them, we're getting them in spring now.  But we're getting these overperforming warm days too, like last April we had two days in the 90s and this is now our third day in the 80s for the month.
