  1. Jim Thorpe 10.5" Dingman's Ferry 11.0" as per TWC storm reports.
  2. I think it has more to do with the banding nature of the storm, with the temp what it is, we need heavier snow to accumulate quickly, which is why we started to add up when the heavier bands moved in around 7 AM here.
  3. This is exactly what we had at 6:15 am before it went to all snow and the heavier snow came in at 7 am.
  4. Yeah see you just needed the heavier snow to get in there. I woke up to a coating at 6:15 after it had just changed from a snow/sleet mix to all snow and then it went to heavier snow around 7 and thats when it started to accumulate more rapidly.
  5. Maybe the heavy banding just moved in there. There was a coating here on all surfaces when I woke up around 6:15 because before then it was mostly a mixture. Since then it's been all snow and it got heavier so it's at least 2 inches now and a very wet snow because tree limbs are sagging down now.
  6. Yeah but they will be the ones who will probably get close to 8 inches. Since it was mostly a mix all night for us near the south shore, places like JFK should end up with more like 4-6.
  7. I guess... but the forecast for 4-8 is a good safe bet right now, we'll see how long it snows for.
  8. I think the areas that got 4+ overnight will be the ones that end up with 10+
  9. yup there is a layer of ice under the snow and it's a substantial layer of ice too
  10. roads are covered here too with a layer of ice and snow on top of it, now that the snow is starting to fall more heavily the coverage should increase and not look translucent.
  11. Here too, this is when the real storm begins, before this it was just a snack lol
  12. yes everything before 7 am was light and before 6 am it was a sleet snow mix.
  13. it's okay, I guess you can say it's moderate snow now, it was just light snow and sleet up until 7 am.
  14. that has to be sleet and snow mixed together, we have layers of both here
  15. No one is going to be happy unless it snows all day. It can stop just before sunset.
  16. snowcovered yes, but less than an inch and you can see through that snowcover lol (it's a mixture of snow and ice cover).
  17. It actually feels like one of the storms from February 2010, we had a couple of storms then that started out as heavy rain and ended up with double digit snowfall totals.
  18. It has me in the jackpot zone.... where is this 14.5 inches of snow coming from lol?
  19. To elaborate on the timing it was a mix of light snow and sleet from 3 AM to 4 AM and then just light snow from 4 AM to 5 AM and then back to a light snow and sleet mix from 5 AM to 6 AM and light snow again after that. At 3 AM it was 35 F and dropped to 33 F by 4 AM and then back up to 34 F by 5 AM and then back down to 33 F by 6 AM.
  20. Now that it's after sunrise I can actually see what happened last night. From 3 am onwards it alternated between light snow and sleet. Sometimes snow and sometimes sleet. The last heavy burst of sleet came in around or just before 6 am and since 6:15 it's been all snow, but it hasn't ever snowed hard, it's just light to occasionally moderate snow. There are two layers on the ground, there's a translucent layer of sleet at the bottom and a layer of snow on top of that and those two layers cover the streets, the driveways, the grass, and cartops and rooftops. It's less than an inch thick (both layers combined) and the temperature has been at 33F since 4 AM
