  1. I think we're in the process of going to -AMO, the +AMO has gone on for too long, 30 years is a normal time for it to switch.
  2. I should too but I thought the sea breeze would have kicked in here by now lol. It's cloudy/overcast here and still 82 degrees lol
  3. 100+ with low humidity is GREAT running weather! I wonder if we can pull up the maps for April 7, 2010 (my favorite summer and the earliest 90 degree day), There was a big difference between Long Beach and JFK that day too. I want to see if we east of JFK were even hotter than JFK was and closer to Central Park's temperature.
  4. I wonder if JFK could be cooler and more susceptible to sea breezes than the area just to the east? I'm over 2 miles from the ocean and the JFK asos must be right near Jamaica Bay.
  5. did you see the maps I just posted? we overpowered the ocean, I want it to be like this ALL summer, on NNW winds Lynbrook 85 degrees Long Beach 61 degrees lol
  6. we're southeast of JFK and well over 80 degrees, that JFK asos must be right over the water, Don.
  7. and this one, Lynbrook 84 (hit a high of 85) look in the lower right corner, that 68 is so close by lol that NNW wind is doing some heavy lifting
  8. Yes 83 outside and 86 inside my house lol
  9. it's a little more complicated though, it's 83 here and you have to be right on the barrier islands or right on the ocean to get the cooler air Look at this 83 and 69 so close to each other
  10. This is really weird. We're spiking here now with full sunshine, 82.6 degrees I checked other weather stations in the area, everyone is tightly clustered between 81 and 82 even though JFK is only 76. Checked 6 weather stations including ones I trust who have been online for 20 years or more. Very windy and very warm! This is as warm as it was on March 30th here, but more humid. The dew point is 61 here.
  11. Yes, I'm not sure what the dew point is, but they said humidity is 46%
  12. The Yankees game in Tampa is about to start and it's also 87 degrees there.
  13. You need to live on the south shore, it fell into the low 70s, now up to 76 again. The snow difference isn't that bad, none of us get that much snow anyway lol.
  14. lol are you sure thats accurate? anyway it's been 96 degrees before in April and felt really good (very low humidity and deep blue skies).
  15. why it's not even humid lol it hit 80.1 here at 2:27 pm and has since dropped off, I think the sea breeze has come in.
  16. what are you even wearing? switch to tshirt and shorts
  17. yes nice offshore wind, got up to 80 here
  18. a lot of these TV weather people don't know any science at all, there are some exceptions like Lee Goldberg of course.
  19. it will never be completely predictable-- too much chaos at play.
  20. lots of breaks here and patches of blue skies up to 78 here now
  21. cold neutral after la nina has historically resulted in some of our warmer winters and lower snowfall totals 1989-90 and 2001-02 come to mind
  22. Chris, the oceans are acting as a check and regulating the high temperatures for us (somewhat at any rate). Our decade for most number of 90 degree days was the 90s. Or to be more precise, 1991 to 2002. We haven't seen a consistently super hot summer since 2010 and before that it was 1993 that set all our records (and 1983 before that.) I don't believe it's an accident or a fluke that we're seeing more seabreeze summers, this is the ocean's response to what we're doing to the climate. The planet always seeks to find a balance.
