    The NAM underwent an upgrade a couple years back and since has actually been on the dryer end of quite a few events. Not saying it’s right here but that bias thankfully was almost completely eliminated in that upgrade.

    Cut the totals in half or even a third in some places and you still have WSW criteria.

    Yes definitely. I’m just afraid the NAM may not be done trending colder and for longer. We gotta hope like you said that it’s more of a sleet fest or it’s going to be lights out, literally.

    Some on the east facing side is going to get clocked with a significant ice storm. Don’t think it’s going to be a huge area but the closer you are to the blue ridge parkway and the divide, the better chance.

    The 3k NAM is very concerning for the eastern side of the Blue Ridge.

    I think for the ROA it’s going to be a quick transition from snow/sleet to freezing rain. Ice storm warning criteria there for sure. Maybe winter storm warning since dealing with snow and sleet.

    6Z GFS and ICON colder. Trend continues.

    0Z GFS definitely trended toward this. The ensembles were even more bullish.

    The 117 hour is icy in Nc on the site I use. It definitely was a trend to wintry here in NC. The ensemble members have definitely been hinting at this for a few runs now. Good to see the OP heading that direction. Should be some good members here in about a hour.

    Big run on the 18Z GFS for the mtn counties. Trended toward the 12Z euro.
