February/March 2020 Winter's Last Chance Thread
PowellVolz replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
Thanks. I really enjoy working on lawns/landscaping for people. I don’t own a business, I’m into HVAC but I take care of a few properties and install about 10 landscapes a year. Unless we get really cold for about a week, fungal problems are gonna be bad this year. . -

I mowed 3 days ago. Pic from my IG of me mowing on Christmas Eve. It’s still growing and I’ll probably put down preemerg this week. . -

I hope March and April doesn’t follow the trends over the last several years like Jan/February has. Nothing is more depressing than a AN winter and a BN spring. . -

I 100% believe there’s something that helps low level winds in Monroe and Blount Co with tornadoes. The numbers speak for themselves vs the other mountain counties. .

Yes it was warned but looks like it was issued right before it was confirmed. .
-
Confirmed tornado just NE of Tazewell at 6:03pm .
-
Tornado warning NE of St Lewis in the marginal risk area. .
-
SPC talked about a secondary WF in the vicinity of MAla, MMiss creating a cap north of that boundary. ICON is trying to show that now. .
-
That’s some serious wording for 5 days out. .

I was just a couple of miles north of that scene and I’d say the winds were 45ish mph but just west of that area of N Knoxville, velocity was interesting .

Knoxville got hit pretty good. We had 16 major roads closed because of down trees and power lines. 10 schools still without power. 40k without power at one time. Took this pic close to my house on Broadway, this is the same tree. .
-
It’s crazy that Knoxville area has had 2 tornado warnings in less than a week at the end of June. The one Thursday afternoon was on top of me. The one today was 5 miles or so north. .

There seems to be more imbedded cell structures from I-40 north moving onto the plateau. MRX was talking about a boundary, like a warm front draped across the valley and I’m wondering if it will add more shear to the line? .
-
Here’s a few pic I took. The last photo looks like it could have been a wall cloud or possibly a funnel. .

Forgot to post this video I shot at my house in Halls. It was that northern most cell in Knox Co. .
-
Showers this morning seem unexpected. Will probably dampen storms this afternoon .
-
Morgan Co got hit hard that November also. I think like 7 died in the Mossy Grove community. .
-
I’m ok with rain if we can stay pretty mild. Amazing that the creek behind my house is still almost at ground level. .
