The water table for most areas must be high enough that basements will flood with those kind of totals even away from rivers. Not good.
Definitely expecting basement flooding. I haven't had to add water to the pool all summer, maybe just once. That never happens.

Ground is really soaked around here...additional rain next couple days along with possible Ida, maybe some problems.
Way too much rain lately. Hoping September turns dry/warm after Ida.

Wasn't he just saying it's been a cool summer? Or am I getting him confused with other posters?
Lmao, remember the end of summer was in sight after the solstice.

No idea how much, but still raining. Wunderground precip map from Mt. Holly has me in “purple” colors. I would guess 6+ at this point.
Yeah all surrounding stations are 5"+ here. Enough to get water in the basement, thankfully not too bad.
Definitely enough rain for awhile.

This is looking like one of the stronger cold fronts that the Northeast has seen at the end of July in quite some time. The 850 mb temperatures in New England will be near the coldest on record since 1979. So it’s possible that places like EWR and NYC can see a rare dip below 60° for the end of July.
Upper 40's and lower 50's in the outer burbs, pretty impressive.

In Wildwood today, curious how things play out.

Had crazy downpours and wind, briefly lost power.

You guys are fkd up 70-75 is so much nicer than hot and steamy. I understand appreciating the extremes but why root for unpleasant?
This weather is terrible if you enjoy the beach/pool. Last weeks weather was far better.

Heavy rain now; solid storm in progress. Decent lightening, good rumbles.
Loud cracks here and it's a deluge.

After June 6th it's supposed to be well over 90 and even approaching 100.
I'd be fine with that, so long as it's more of a dry heat.
We really only have 3 core months of heat- June, July, August. Spring is just cool and grey as of recent, with some bursts of warmth here and there.

I hate to say it but I gave in and have the mosquito guys come and spray every couple weeks. It’s the only thing that works. I tried growing lemon grass, I tired using one of those propane powered traps. None of it worked. It got so bad I would get 3-4 bites just walking the garbage to the curb.
Not sure about you, but the gnats are a problem too. I've been bit up pretty bad so far, but they're all from those tiny things. All of a sudden there's a pinch and some blood, forget about the itching. Even some anti-itch cream barely helps.

Downpouring currently. Hardest rain yet. Figures NEXRAD is down for maintenance.

Very California like weather and the best you'll ever see in Spring for us.
60s to low 70s with low humidity is pretty ideal for Spring...unless you have allergies of course.
I wonder if this will carry over into the summer and we see 100F+ temps.
Gorgeous today, don't think you can get much better. Wouldn't mind a hot and dry (humidity wise) summer.

The difference between the actual air temperature and the dewpoint.
For example, if the air temperature is 70 degrees, and the dewpoint is 10, you get a dewpoint depression of 60.
It's not a commonly used met term, but is neat to chart on a day like today when it's very dry and you end up with large difference between air temperature and dewpoint.
That's interesting actually. This time of year would probably have the highest DP depression on average since it's typically dry warmth.

It is increasingly uncommon. The last time it happened was April 9, 2003. Since 1950, there have been only 9 such dates:
April 8, 1956
April 4, 1975
April 7, 1982
April 9, 1982
April 5, 1995
April 7, 2003
April 8, 2003
April 9, 2003
April 2, 2021
Wow, 9 times (or 6 April's) over a span of 70 years is impressive.

My station saw 90°+ Temps on April 25th and 26th, 2009.... Then again in 2010 hit 92° on the 7th.... No April 90's for me since then.
Yeah I should have kept better records, though I know it got warm sometime around those years.

Yeah 1998 saw local stations surpassing 80° for 5 straight days to end March.
And was it April 2012 or 2013 that featured some heat here?

Don't get me wrong, I love spring, and I know the temps will be trending back to near, or even slightly below normal by Sunday or Monday. But to bypass early to mid spring-like 50's and 60's and jump right into the middle of June is a little too soon for me. It's not like we have to wait for months on end for this type of warmth to return. And we know that once the heat returns, it will lock in for several months. I wish we could just have a slow, but steady climb to this type of warmth. My high temp of 79.8 degrees is exactly normal for June 15th. As they say, "to each his own."
It's only for one day, not like we are torching for weeks on end. 50's and 60's are back starting this weekend. It's a nice treat for us to briefly enjoy.

100% agree. This was the best winter since 2015
I think 17-18 was better tbh. This year was really saved by 3 weeks in February. No snow in March is disappointing too.

57 currently. It's so weird how cool it feels, I'm actually chilly. Just been so hot and humid that this dry air feels like that.
