Low 60's is well above normal for this time of year.  And what rain on the weekend?  Maybe Sunday night

    Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph.
    Saturday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.
    Sunday
Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60.
    Sunday Night
Rain likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
    Monday
Rain likely before 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

This time of year is always back and forth though.  After the weekend,  it's back to at or below normal next week.

My highest forecast temp next Monday-Saturday is 53, which isn't crazy AN.  Of course we will probably overperform some days especially with full sun.

Remember, I'm ~45 miles in and at 700 feet so nights are cold. I think I undershot and therefore underbudgeted for the cold 3 months and with the pop in oil (and diesel) prices it's a bad time to be stuck buying enough for 6 cold weeks when I probably only need 30-50 more gallons.

Exactly yeah, next week is the last full week of March, and I'm not seeing anything crazy warm.  Monday through Friday most highs are 40's to low 50's with 20's and 30's at night.

I'm not saying we don't end up AN this month but it's not like we wall to wall torched.  The crazy departures last week will make the month look worse on paper of course.

Not even an inch of snow for March.  Terrible ending to a great winter.

Cant complain since we had winter from December right through end of February.

We had enough snow, and outside of that heat burst last week, it's not like we've been torching.  Next week still looks chilly.

    Stuck at 27 currently.

Who gives a crap. We have seen snow many times past the Equinox.

I know its harder but there is still alot of cold air around.

Definitely going to be cool coming up but I wouldn't expect anything snow wise.

Sure, we have seen snow after the equinox, but how often is it anything accumulating?  Honestly, at this point, who cares about a dusting or car topper?

Don't get me wrong, I'm okay with average temps, not looking for a torch or anything this early in the season, but time to pack it in with the snow now.  You got your KU dude!

    Not me. I want more.

Time to start tracking rain events.  Now is when we want some good soakers, so that by May/June when things turn more towards convection, we have a good start and don't have to worry about a drought as much.

    Monday has my attention.

Insane thunderstorms last night.  Several ground strikes nearby woke me from dead sleep.

Had ripping downpours here, the rain alone woke me up.

The additional 0.4" overnight puts me just under an inch from this system, and we still have more to come.

    TEB: 81
    TTN: 80

    ACY: 80
    HPN: 79
    LGA: 78
    ISP: 67
    JFK: 64

    March 10th or June 10th?

  8. Warm temps and higher dewpoints have eaten the snow alive here.

Snowcover completely destroyed and gone.  Even the huge piles at the corners of the driveway are tiny.

Next few days look great, shame though it's just a tease.

  9. March 1st, I guess it's time for me to come out of hibernation.  Finally made it through the coldest and darkest months of the year.

Looks like a lot of rain chances this week, but I see some 60's showing up towards next weekend.

Looking forward to some 7pm sunsets too :sun:

Will it turn cold by the 3rd week, maybe...but at that point who cares.  It's been plenty cold and I'm just under 50 inches this season.  AN snow and BN temps, nothing to complain about on this one.

ask anyone irish....it's always cold on st patty's day....i was down in monmouth co i think it was 2003 in march, we were at a meeting at a school in matawan and it started snowing. it started coming down heavy and our district called early; but we were already stuck at this meeting. it got very bad quickly going up the gsp; heavy wet flakes.

The third week of March is typically the turning point.  Yes, it CAN snow until April, like 2018 for example, but that's highly anomalous.

So by that measure we have about 5 weeks left of wintry potentials.  Anything after should be considered a treat.

  11. So nice to have the sunset time approaching 5:15pm now.

Sitting at just about 31 inches for this season, not bad at all.  I don't know my seasonal average, but I would assume around 40ish maybe? @rgwp96Any idea?

Also, this is a pretty legit cold snap.  Low single digits every night here right through the weekend.  Next week looks to "warm" a bit as we have a chance at seeing above freezing again.

I'm just curious... When y'all measure your snow.... How do you differentiate between .8" and .75 or just 1.0 for that matter? What are we using to measure snowflakes with such precision?

Just round to the nearest tenth.  I always measure the exact amount, and then convert (i.e. 2.75 is 2.8 or 3.25 is 3.3)

I don't see any evidence of fresh salt chunks but all the roads look salty too me and I'm confused how lol.

I assume they put down more salt to account for the quick temperature drop and freeze up?

Ended up with 1.3" here.  Had some heavy downpours at times.  Got a burst around 3:30pm or so with crazy heavy rain for maybe 3 minutes.

I remember years asking on this forum (or probably a predecessor forum) what's the longest they've seen a plowed pile of snow last.  Someone within this forum's geographic area responded June - I want to say it wasn't plowed but rather snow that had been somehow packed in somewhere in the shade on the side of some mountain.  June!

That seems too much for our region.  I really don't even see how plowed piles could last beyond the end of April around here, unless it was exceptionally cool.  Otherwise, by May the 70's and higher dewpoints would eat any snow alive.
