Some of the models show modest snow but over a long period of time, with some down time in between. That would tend to make actual effects fairly minimal impact. Like, I could see getting 3 inches of snow but never really having much of anything on the road. Plus there's no commute. I can see them expanding wwa west just a bit for that last pulse, esp given timing.
-
Yes. Though it went from some snow showers to maybe a wwa confined to the south east, which is kindof already within the envelope of plausible.

I wondered why I didn't remember this event. Look at that. 2.5 in a 6-12, and people have the temerity to bitch about a foot.
-
Yes, that too.

See now this is actually irony, people... Calling someone autistic for making fun of the blind.

My kid has been out of daycare so much due to positive cases , and it has been so disruptive, that I'm feeling like if there's a storm its a win, and if there isn't it's a win too.
-
No, I don't think. You can't casually foretell irony. That's rather the point of irony.

Newark wasn't available.

Snow doesn't want to live there. It just can't afford to live elsewhere.

Sometimes the farts are liquid.

The gfs is still trending better. The depiction is still an odd strung out scraper without much organization, but any more trending and it's something of significance for the SE and it's already something for the cape. No support from the euro.

There isn't a storm of any relevance, except on some models. The only reason you have introduced the narrative of "the storm" and instantiated it is because of your reading of these models. Irony. It would be more accurate to say, "Let's confirm, yet again, how awful humans are with probabilistic thinking." Still, its something to hold our desperate interest for at least a couple days. Unless lest we continue bickering about who had to walk uphill both ways further in LESS snow than the other guy." Ok, that's wordy, but its a jumping off point.

Freezing rain coming down nicely. Encasing.

My snow is gone, grass everywhere. Snow up north. Are we sure they didn't steal my snow?
-
A for me. The past three winters have left me with similar snowfall totals on the season as I got in one day. The rest of the winter has been pure unadulterated garbage. 3.5 inches. But I'll take the highlight. 9 hours of blizzard and record snowfall makes it all worth it. The radar I screenshotted is like a negative of every radar I've seen in every storm for a decade.

We had the snow eating fog today. It was fun while it lasted!

I don't know, I didn't glance up, because that area is just used for canoeing?

Newport is a pretty poor place, despite its image. People actually live here year round, and their median income is low. I'm enjoying the model battle as a spectator with no skin in the game.

Ive spent three years in Spain and their service is way more varied than that. I would say cafe and restaurant service is comparable to here easily. The culture is different but the service is equal, perhaps more professional due to the ages of those involved and the fact that they can live on the wages they make. Other places, the trains for instance... Slow. Well, no, the trains are fast, the ticketing and customer service is slow. Now, you travel there, or especially France during tourist season, and you won't get their normal employees, because they don't work for tips, and they have mandated and significant pto because they live in a civilized manner. Then, you might get horrible service. Because no one, at all, wants to be working when everyone they know is on vacation. The part I'm falling down on us enjoying the scenery. Most of America's restaurants are in strip malls. If someone has the misfortune to be at an Applebee's receiving horrible service, what is their recourse, to look at a parking lot, stare at 4 lanes of surface streets, and bemoan the car culture?

OBS/DISCO - The Historic James Blizzard of 2022
NeonPeon replied to TalcottWx's topic in New England
So as far as I can see, this was Newports record ever one-day storm total at 21", just edging out '78 for the top spot. To give a frame of reference, this is double an average January total of snow, and is two thirds of an average yearly snowfall. I'll remember this forever. I've had bigger snowfalls when I lived in upstate new York, many of them. But it matters more when its an underdog. I'm absolutely exhausted from the whole day, and the fact that this is my kids first ever proper snowstorm is amazing. He could not fathom how much snow there was, or what could be done with it. -

I don't know why it matters to me that Newport verified a blizzard, but it does. Anyone know where I can see location specific snowfall records? I only know where to find it broken out into months historically. -

Just got back from cross country skiing. Went straight down Broadway, amazing.
