December 2021 Obs/Disco...Dreaming of a White-Weenie Xmas
The 4 Seasons replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in New England
Coastal CA, like the bay area San Fran, LA or pretty much anywhere outside of the mountains has the most boring weather on the planet. It's like groundhog day all year round. If you're into weather or a met that lives there you probably want to poke your eyes out with knitting needle. -

The SLP is clearly quite a bit north from 00Z but the run is overall colder, esp with the frontend thump in CT -

I found one at 10K feet thats even more ridiculous. 89-115". And thats only for the first storm, to the end of the warning. Earlier i saw one at 12K feet that i didn't save but it was 118-155". I used to live in South Lake Tahoe and it this is a lot, even for them. A historical event. -

I'm doing a snowfall accumulation map for this little event so if you have final numbers please send them to me or @ me. Reports are sparse since it was a minor event, OKX didn't even put out a PNS, BOX and ALY did but they are very limited with only a couple reports. I can check CoCoRahs, they have some but i'd like to get the members on here. I combed through the last few pages and already have DIT, Ginx, Sugarloaf, FlashFreeze and Thunderblizzard. If @tavwtby @metagraphica @EastonSN+ @Mr. Windcredible! @WinterWolf @Spanks45 @WxWatcher007 and anyone else from CT i can't think of off the top of my head has any, lmk in the next few hours if u got em, thanks. -

It just wants to snow today. Thought that band was dying out thats been hanging out over North Haven all day but looks like its reintensifying the last few frames. Big flakes right now but its pretty light. 1.0" 31F First inch of the season. -

I'm already closing in on 1. This small band is expanding a bit and slowly pushing west over the North Haven/Madison area. -

Epic, bought to take a weenie drive to east haven to see the slightly heavier white rain and wet roads. -

Steady snow picking up a bit on intensity. White rain mostly though, roads are wet. Non paved surfaces starting to stick. Getting ready to hunker down. 34F -
lol damn I've been in the low 20s multiple times so far. 22 coldest day this season, occurred last week and this morning.

We're like barely past peak here.

NOAA has records back to 1905 for BDL well it says "hartford area" which is of course, BDL in Windsor Locks. Ryan mentioned records go back to 1954. Were records kept at a different location prior to 1954? I'm guessing it was Hartford proper, maybe HFD?

Probably peaking here but the last two storms really killed it.

Peak here. JK. But some really nice color starting to show up in wooded areas. I'm not sure when typical peak here is. I think its probably the last week of October usually.

At or slightly past peak? Really? I don't think Kevin would agree. Trees are still budding and coming in bloom there. Peak not until late November.

The older i get the more and more i appreciate fall and the fall foliage each season. Some of these pictures are incredible @eyewall@MaineJayhawk@powderfreak really awesome stuff. The color has been really picking up here lately the past week or so. I wouldn't say its high color or near peak but it's definitely more than a touch of color or just starting. Some crappy shots from my terrible phone camera (unedited).. Looks a lot more colorful in person, probably the overcast and terrible phone camera.
