New Bern here and this will be our 2nd snow in 2 years. They are generally few and far between. Been here since 96 and our biggest was 8 inches in 2010 I believe. Last year we had 5 inches. The most for this area was in 1989 at just under 12 inches. Wilmington had over a foot with that storm.
I want another blizzard. Been in 4 in my lifetime. The famous 1980 one in Virginia Beach, 1996 Presidents day while in the mountains, a 2 mini blizzards in 1989 in Virginia Beach. I'm due.
Was just reading our local NWS forecast and they are saying we have at least a 50% chance of blizzard conditions Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Didn't want to pop in here until tomorrow but man , I am starting to get excited. Please don't crush my hopes Mother Nature.
Sun came out and temp soared up to 42 at 12:30 pm. Then the clouds came back and the wind picked up and temp has been dropping ever since. Expected to bottom out tomorrow morning at 18 or so.
Amazed to see the difference between the Southeast nc and northeast nc. From the mid 40's in Elizabeth City to around 30 in Wilmington to 60's at Hatteras to the teens inland.
What a frigid day. High was 46 just after midnight. Daytime high was 33. Low is out current temp of 26. Wind blew all day. Windchills were easily in the teens
