  1. That might be the last time DCA got below 10? I'd have to check
  2. NYC (15F at Central Park and 18F at LGA) and BOS (8F) got colder, obviously. But not too long ago a straight shot of arctic air coming over snow-cover would push NYC below 10 and BOS near zero.
  3. It feels like even a few years ago an airmass like this would push everyone down into the teens if not single digits, even in the urban areas. They just don't have the same punch they used to...
  4. Calm winds actually don't do anything except keep the temp mostly steady - we don't have radiational cooling in the middle of the city. You need a north wind bringing in the cold to really drop at night.
  5. 28F at midnight at DCA - gonna be difficult.
  6. My temp drop has kinda stalled out downtown - hanging tight around 28F.
  7. Caps seem to always completely forget how to play about this time of year.
  8. The NAM is being run from Elon Musk's Tesla which is en route to Mars.
  9. yeah I think as @WinterFire mentioned we break the 22F streak but stay >= 20F. The wind right now is more WNW at DCA which isn't the most ideal direction. Right now 32F at 8pm.
  10. The streak is once again in jeopardy tonight and tomorrow night. We will have to see what happens tonight - it's around 40F right now downtown, so that's a lot to drop for the urban core. The wind should help, however (it's a cold N / NW wind bringing in the cold air).
  11. i was thinking maybe it's broken, but it just jumped to 1C (33.8F) at 11 AM.
  12. LOL DCA has recorded the exact same temp (5-min obs) since 7:10 AM - 32F. Gotta be some kinda record for a bright sunny day.
  13. arguably one of the worst late game decisions of all time.
  14. you gotta wonder if that late Chargers timeout pissed him off.
  15. upper 40s downtown - our snow cover has officially been obliterated.
  16. i'm glad my parents did lessons for me early (I think i was in 4th or 5th grade). Massanutten Resort had this program through our local YMCA where we had 6 weeks of lessons every winter - I haven't skied in several years but I feel like I'd be able to get right back into it.
  17. i don't recall everything - i just remember being at this party (I was a junior in high school) where we were all staying at someone's house overnight, and then the next morning it was just drizzly. I think I found WWBB shortly thereafter as a place to vent lol.
  18. In March 01, we were forecast to get 2-3 FEET. Got NOTHING. I will never forget it.
  19. yep - it's the same as you see in other major urban cores. In NYC, it really only cools down at night in winter if there is a north wind coming down the Hudson - otherwise you get days where it's like a high of 35 and a low of 29 or something.
  20. LOL - the streak continues at DCA with a low of 22F. It's really getting insane that we can't get below 20. Next chance on Tuesday it looks like.
  21. where KSHD is located is really perfect for these types of radiational cooling nights. It's a field basically in the middle of nowhere square in the middle of the valley.
  22. 25F at midnight at DCA. I think we'll break through the 22F record, but 20F is gonna be tougher.
