  1. lol see above. it's going on 1000+ days now. It probably ended this hour. We still have a streak ongoing of days reaching at least 30F that stretches back to the beginning of Feb 2019.
  2. yeah we have 5 min ob of now either 21 or 22, and the wind is basically perfect for temps to drop in the urban core (fresh north wind).
  3. The streak will likely end in the next hour. It was quite a run!!!
  4. ideally people would just drive less.
  5. folks from the storm thread, we're talkin' high dewpoints and memes over here. come on in!
  6. there was one summer day in the middle of the 2010s - I don't know if you all remember it, but the mid atlantic and NE had INSANELY high dewpoints. I think Dover, DE was up in the mid 80s. I'm pretty sure both Central Park and DCA cracked 80F. JFK had an hourly ob with a dewpoint of 84F lol. That day was probably my max - I just remember any aerobic activity outside being a real struggle. There was another afternoon when we had just moved to DC and a t-storm was passing just to our north. It was far enough away to keep our air temp in the mid 90s but it pushed the dewpoint up to around 84 (per my local weather station). I was running at the time and that was not easy.
  7. LOL DT has literally had the same map style for like 20 years. You gotta love it.
  8. cold air damming is still pretty fierce down there and storm tracks are typically such that they get big warm layers overhead (hence freezing rain). You move north, the less likely you have such layers. You move south, and that wedge isn't as strong.
  9. yeah the only ambiguity was up more towards NYC. we scored a late coup up there (it became NYC's biggest snowstorm of all time).
  10. yeah i would love to experience it exactly one time - then i'm good lol.
  11. take it to the bank folks!!!
  12. Dewpoints in Dubai (and surrounding areas) can get up into the 90s.
  13. If I remember correctly the Blizz of 93 was basically called from 5 days out.
  14. lol we still have some green leaves on f'ing trees downtown.
  15. like honestly, some restaurants in C'ville could hold their own against the upper echelon of restaurants in NYC.
  16. C'ville's restaurant scene is insane, given it's a city of not even 50k people.
  17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_2014_nor'easter
  18. lol yes - sometimes i wonder what happened to posters WAYY back. I think it was a poster named "rainstorm" (source of the "angle of the cold" comment) who was horrible
  19. yeah they are maybe more like big hills there - the Blue Ridge higher elevations you don't really start hitting until closer to I-64 and points south (5-6k feet in SW VA and W NC).
  20. yeah - i also lived in NYC for most of the 2010s, and they have their own crop of crazy posters (and good ones). As far as I know, there are still some really solid posters from there (Don S, etc).
