In NFL history...has a coach ever been fired after going 14-3 and losing the AFC Championship game? (Real question--I don't think I've ever heard of that being done) Therein lies the conundrum. I don't think any team justifiably does that...regardless of what has happened before. It's still winning football...coach hasn't lost the locker room (although maybe we'll see this off season, lol) just hasn't gotten to the SB. I feel like...we'd have to completely miss the playoffs in order for something to change. I mean in a weird way, if you root for Harbs to be fired, you'd basically have to root against the team next year and root for us to miss the playoffs, lol So like...y'all gonna root for us to tank? Lol

If, if, IF. Just once I'd like you to use positive language when there's no other reason to be negative about something. Humor me just this once for the Feb 10th-20th period. What do ya have to lose? -

Nice!! Still can't believe they ousted that dude a few years ago, lol -
It is. And I kinda get the "Don't hit people over the head with it". I could see if it was like...being really judgemental or something. But what I'm not getting is the thinking that expressing beliefs is always based on an assumption somebody wants to engage. Sometimes you're just talking freely from what you feel, not to necessarily "engage". Just comes out sometimes (like you said, it is a personal thing)...and some just feel more free with it than others
-
TL;DR: Expressing faith is not presumption, it's being yourself...and when you talk about what YOU believe, that does not equate to telling others what to believe. Here's what folks don't get about this: When you're a Christian, it is so much a part of what you do that you naturally talk about it...especially in a field of leadership where there are going to be other people that share that faith (and where workplace rules don't prohibit it) You can't just turn it off...faith doesn't work that way. After all it's what YOU believe, and it shapes how you view things, and how you lead. So when you're asked about your leadership, if that's part of it...it comes out. And you can believe when he coaches, the players bring up the same stuff. I mean players talk about their faith too! Lamar just did that the other day...and you KNOW how much Ray Lewis did (and still does!) It's just a part of who you are. Should a player not say it simply because some people don't believe it? Is it wrong for teams to have chaplains? I promise you there are men of faith on every team. but some do (in the Ravens case there are many that do). But nobody is making anybody believe anything! So...it's probably not turning off the players that don't believe, and not taking away from the game...so, what's the problem?
-
Well here's what's interesting...Mike Mac told a superfan last night the opposite, lol: Now of course...he could've "technically" meant he's not going anywhere in terms of being a coach in the NFL. But let's hope he means the Ravens
-
Oh yes--it was an awful, awful gameplan. Probably one of the worst in AFC championship history. I mean it was frickin' dumb! (And I'll bet if you ask him he'll say the same thing) All I question is if it warrants a firing. Easy to say yes right now...but looking at the big picture...you gotta consider whether it would make things better or worse next year.
-
Take this from another angle...Looking at the whole season...was Monken a bad hire? I mean...dude had a great track record (unlike Roman). How do you see an inexplicable meltdown in one game ahead of time?

This thread was open when things trended the right way twice two weeks ago.

That run was funny--that low did a dang ring-a-round the rosy, lol

Jan/Early Feb Medium/Long Range Discussion Part 3

We could probably trip into "beating" climo (climo being a median of 15 inches here) with a couple advisory events. But as far as beating the average? If this isn't a KU pattern, how are we gonna do that in one storm? Now I need clarity on the hecs, mecs and becs terminology...how many inches are associated with each category? Lol -
They embarrassed themselves in front of the entire city and nation. This is the first time I've ever been embarrassed to be a Ravens fan. I mean we are in the worst position right now, and I have zero confidence in them at the moment...and even if they play well next season, I still won't believe until they do it. Won't allow myself to. My main winter hoodie and hat is Ravens, so I gotta wear that shame the rest of the winter, smh (too cheap to buy a new one so that part is my fault). Did everything right this year but this and they all should be ashamed for what they did to the rest of us. Dang it man I am frickin' ticked and it's about to ruin my entire week if I let it.
-
I'm sad today...Ravens lost, snow chances for Feb not looking like I'd hoped...not sure what to be happy about right now. It's so depressing man...
-
So you fire him because of that?
-
It's fair it needs to be looked at...but for a firing? Nah man...he only just got here and gave Lamar the keys to the offense? You think it's wise to take that away after one year? You don't fire somebody after one year for a bad playoff appearance (BTW the adjustment last week he should get credit for). Lamar works well with him--bad idea to rip that out after Year 1.

Ah--I saw the chart and assumed it was talking about an SSW. My bad -
The schedule this year wasn't easy either, though. That back half was an absolute gauntlet! And then we had the Lions and Seahawks, had to travel 4 time zones in 5 weeks...not what I'd call "easy". That being said...yes, next year is gonna be a challenge as well. But you know what? If you're worth your salt, you find a way to make it happen. I cannot see this team drastically falling off if Lamar stays as healthy as he did this year.
-
I doubt that. Monken never seemed like a head coach to me. And besides...who do you replace him with, and is it really a good idea to replace somebody who Lamar has worked so well with? (And had his best season passing!)
-
Oh absolutely. Monken has done some great things this year...but today? Totally over thought it, smh (And really he almost overthought it last week too...but thankfully listened to Lamar). Should've kept it simple: Run. The. BALL! But the Chiefs may have gotten into his head as much as the rest of the team, lol
-
This is not Harbaugh's fault...not today. A team that has been so disciplined all year long and just dominated has a bad game at a bad time...you tell me: What is a HC supposed to do here? Everything has been working this year; he's made the right coaching hires (paging Dr. Rush for our 60 sacks), Monk gave Lamar the keys and unlocked things...We go something like 4-1 traveling multiple time zones...and we come into the divisional round--our biggest hurdle we hadn't yet cleared--ready to play (offense sluggish but got there). So he doesn't get credit for all that...because we couldn't get past the AFC championship this time? Now his in-game decisions? That criticism I agree with to a degree. (But that was not in play today. Sometimes good teams lose) But him as a coach overall? We don't know how good we have it. I really hope we win a SB in the next year or two to prove folks wrong about wanting to fire him. If we get another trophy there won't be much else to say, imo
-
Agree about the game plan and especially Stanley--he's become a liability and has clearly never recovered from the horrific ankle injury (thanks TJ Watt, lol)
-
This year is different from 2019. We got past the divisional round! We did NOT crap the bed...that to me is progress. And also...this isn't the Titans we lost against, but today's iteration of Brady: Mahomes and the Chiefs! The 2019 game got out of hand quickly--this one did not. I think there are differences...we cleared the divisional round hurdle, now hopefully next time we can clear the AFC hurdle...and FINISH.

Worst playoff loss since 2011, imo

Jan/Early Feb Medium/Long Range Discussion Part 3
Maestrobjwa replied to WinterWxLuvr's topic in Mid Atlantic
Imo This gets less and less relevant the deeper into winter we get. There's always a lag anyway...something in Feb we may not see the effect of until March (a la 2018). I tune this out after awhile
