  1. 0.80” and still raining. Northern edge has been kind today. Hoping for a repeat in January.
  2. So far the high temp has been 70 at Martinsburg. If that stands, it breaks the low max record for the date of 71 set in 2003.
  3. Steady light rain here at 65 degrees.
  4. Had 0.60" at 7:00 a.m. Been a steady light rain since then that's dropped another 0.25". Up to 4.84" for August.
  5. 0.38” from the afternoon activity. Nothing but sprinkles since then. A muggy and still evening. HRRR says nothing but more sprinkles here through midday tomorrow.
  6. Turned into a rainy evening here. After an initial line of thundershowers moved through an hour ago, another line has moved in. Decent T & L in both cells.
  7. Mostly clear, windy and hot. Winds W 23 G35. 87 degrees at 7:00 p.m.
  8. Caught the tail of a nice thunderstorm cell earlier today that dropped 0.34” in about 5 minutes. Some nice CG strikes and 25-30 mph winds.
  9. High of 85 after a morning low of 65. Not bad for a day in August. Amazed by the monthly precip totals from you folks to my East. 3.48” here.
  10. 0.33” the past 24 hours. 3.68” for August
  11. Scattered showers most of the day here, then a steady light rain for the last several hours. 71°
  12. The 12Z NAM 12k and 3k are very wet here. More than 2" through tomorrow on both. 12Z GFS says less than 0.05" Glad its not winter.
  13. Picked up 1.30" of rain today. 3.07" for the week now.
  14. Thunderstorm just rolled through here and dropped 0.56”. E WV has been added to the FF Watch.
  15. A much needed downpour happening here. Only a bit of thunder and a few moderate gusts to 30 mph.
  16. I’ve picked up about 2 and a half inches of rain in the past six weeks. Not the best start to the growing season.
  17. We planted our vegetables two weeks ago tomorrow. That weekend we had enough rain to wet the ground (0.05" total from a couple of light showers) and 0.41" more the following Friday. Now this week we have managed to total 0.20" from three events since Wednesday evening (0.02" today.) Even though a few things are growing, it's not nearly where it could be had we had more luck with the rain. Unless something can pop this evening it looks like I'll be watering this weekend.
  18. Planted everything on Saturday. Had enough rain on Sunday to wet the ground but very little since. Wish the wedge would ease a little as there are good showers just off to my W/SW that the seeds could use.
  19. Warm muggy night in rural WV with neighborhood fireworks going off from several directions. Guess it’s the pre-Memorial Day weekend celebration ? Actually it will be every weekend from now through the summer. Not sure the stands are open so these must be from surplus stock ?
  20. Laying in all the vegetables this weekend. Late start this year, but it worked out with all the freezing weather in May so far. Haven't grown potatoes in a few years, but we recovered a large (50'x8') raised bed that we had let grow over and added some additional soil and peat last weekend. Should yield a fair amount of Yukon golds if the bugs leave us alone. Two other 50'x50' patches are turned and have trenches dug ready to plant beans and onions, and hills mounded for squash, cukes, melons, cantaloupes. Tomatoes and peppers doing well in the cold house. Hoping the soil warms soon, as we are putting them in the ground Saturday as well. All the lettuces and herbs being grown in trays and pots/ buckets this year.
  21. Getting rocked here with high wind and torrential rain.
  22. There are some frigid periods around several of those dates. 1961, 1981, 1985 and 2009 all had below-zero weather in my area within a couple of days of the ones listed.
  23. You can see that a lot of ice mixed in with the snow even up your way, when you see how much liquid produced some of those snowfalls.
