  1. Hit a high of 46 before noon. Down to 39 now with a dewpoint of 21 under clear skies. Looks like it should be cold enough for any/all moisture that makes it here.
  2. These are just ones I personally experienced: December 31-Jan 1, 1970 was a 6-12" snowfall for I-95 between DC and Baltimore. January 5, 1980 was a 4-8" storm. January 7-8, 1988 was generally 6-8". December 27-28, 1990 was 5-8". There were others, like January 2, 1925 (6-10"), and December 26-27, 1909 (8-12") and quite a few more that were 3-6" storms.
  3. Pretty dynamic system rolling through. Even with 850s well above 0, Hagerstown reported mixed precip last hour, and Bedford, PA reported snow at 32. Just heard a few fumbles of thunder here in a downpour at 35 degrees.
  4. Just hit 33.0 here with drizzle. The high for the day so far, after a low of 28. Up to 0.21" of rain today.
  5. 18Z GFS coming into line with the EC, UK and CMC now with a nice thump for N + W zones. Can that hold for 3 days ?
  6. I remember Pete. He was part of the AOL chat rooms back in the early 90's, which was the first weather discussion I found online. I'm pretty sure he was a member at Eastern, but not sure if he made the switch to American ? Maybe in the NYC forums if he's still around.
  7. Yep. Our last white Christmas here, as we still had some snow left from the 2" that fell early on Christmas Eve. I picked up 5.7" from the 12/26 storm on 1.24" liquid.
  8. Check out today's 12Z CMC. Hopefully it's correct for the first time.
  9. Snowing nicely here now. Slushy accumulation beginning on car tops. 35 degrees.
  10. Just like that the temp has plunged. Lost 4 degrees in the 40 minutes since my post. Now 39 with rain drops getting larger.
  11. 44/33 with light rain, after a high of 51. Have only lost 2 degrees the past two hours even with a gusty west wind.
  12. GFS is the only model of the 00Z suite so far to show accumulating snow for my yard, and even that is a fringe job. All the rest have anything greater than fractions of an inch to my S/SE, with that canonical precip minima from Cumberland east to here. Fortunately almost every storm where snow moves in from the SW looks that way on models, but rarely ends up verifying that way. Hoping for at least an inch to cover the grass.
  13. I think the campus is at about 600’ asl.
  14. 18 degrees, the coldest morning of the season so far.
  15. Coldest temp of the season so far was 19 on Nov 13 and 14. May challenge that tonight. Down to 26 with clear skies, calm wind and a still rising barometer. Forecast is 21 which is lower than this morning’s 23. I think I go lower than that here if clouds stay away.
  16. HRRR bullseyes my yard around midnight. Really pulling for this to be right.
  17. Some very light snow/snizzle falling here now at 39 degrees.
  18. 12Z Euro starts the weekend event as some snow in my yard, transitioning to a prolonged period of 31-32 degree FZRA, A few degrees colder than progged could make a much bigger impact.
  19. That early March storm, the Ash Wednesday storm, was one of the most destructive nor'easters in history. Dropped 18"+ in this area. Had the stall off of our coast that we always root for, which was incredibly destructive to the towns on the coast. I'd like to see a storm with that kind of power, but ideally in Jan or Feb.
  20. 7.4” here that stayed on the ground for 3 days. 2018 was such a strange year with heavy snow on 3/21 and 11/15. Hopefully this year we can get snow in the winter.
  21. Some thunder and lightning with the cell that passed through here last hour. More noteworthy was the heavy rain rates. Ended up with 0.79" in about 30 minutes. Water in the driveway is over ankle deep, indicative of how saturated everything remains after nearly 3" early Monday.
  22. 4.4” in my yard. 7.5” now for March.
