my first weather memory was hurricane David as a 4 year old in 79. I didn't know what a hurricane was I just remember this loud noise hitting the house and seeing the rain blowing sideways down the street. I became fascinated by wind and storms after that and finally after the blizzard of 83 a snow weenie

Two people were bitten by a shark while swimming in the water off Fire Island in Suffolk County, New York, Wednesday morning, according to NBC New York. Both incidents reportedly happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The separate incidents occurred at Sailors Haven and Atlantique Beach, which are about 4 miles apart. The victim of the Atlantique Beach attack is reportedly a 13-year-old boy who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A young girl, who's age is not immediately known, was bitten at Sailors Haven but was able to able to walk out of the ocean after lifeguards came to her aid. Officials from the city of Islip have reportedly banned swimming at all of its ocean-facing beaches.

Yes so many were laughing that the city would never get anywhere near their forecast numbers for that reason. Areas that underperformed got skunked more than anything, not because of temps. Unless we're going to start adding astericks to measurements that a foot is only a foot if it a foot accumulates on the pavement
