  1. Yeah the euro had a 'mother of god' run midweek that had 2 to 3 feet from DC to Boston and everyone went crazy
  2. I think at one point the euro was alone showing a huge hit then every model lost it for a couple days
  3. I seriously dont remember being that optimistic though. I gave up around the 22nd
  4. 12/30/00 saw sharp cutoffs but some places picked up 2 feet in 9 or 10 hours. I dont recall alot of wind but certainly rates of 2 to 4" an hour would seem blizzard like either way. 2-5-01 was a heavy wet disaster of a storm that hit during rush hour crushing areas just inland
  5. Caribou has a much longer, harsher winter though it would be ideal If you hate hot summers
  6. About the same. The sound of large branches cracking was eerie
  7. I remember when I was 4 we had what was left of hurricane David in 1979. I'm not sure I knew what a hurricane was or why we would name them but I could see the rain blowing down the street sideways and the man on the radio saying to stay away from the windows
  8. March 2010 was probably more intense
  9. We hadn't had a nor'Easter like that in at least a decade
  10. That would've been the morning low though. Still made it up to upper 70s low 80s that day though would've been a bit cool by fireworks time
  11. It was a really tough forecast as closer to the city it was rain until late in the day. We kept going back and forth but I don't think they expected 8-12" to pile up in about 6 hours. Kinda similar to the November storm we just had
  12. I got stuck in that one, took 5 hours to drive 15 miles (parsippany to Montclair). It was a rain snow mix and then just turned to heavy wet snow and started piling up around 3pm And that was before gps and I didn't even have a cell phone yet
  13. 108 degree heat in July, 18" of rain in August, Irene flooding and tree damage, October snowstorm and tree damage. March 9 degrees above average.
  14. I didn't know this happened during the 83 blizzard: February 11, 1983: Bulk carrier Marine Electric sinks in a savage winter storm, killing 31 of its 34 crew members. In their search for answers, investigators discover that dozens of other carriers are also at risk. Watch Disasters at Sea: Deadly Neglect, premiering Sunday at 9PM. http://bit.ly/2C5FMxW
  15. Also for those not familiar Ray's winter storm archive is a good resource though he stopped in 2013 http://www.raymondcmartinjr.com/weather
  16. Yeah South Jersey didn't get much
  17. gfs from 18z christmas day
  18. I think that was when the storm was over
