So go with the Euro as usual, Don?
They have already started talking about a possible winter storm next weekend on our locals, specifically Ch 7 WABC.

Right now the models are showing that as a warm rainy storm. I don't know what G is seeing to make him think it could be a cold storm, and to put up a mix map this early is absurd. Cold does come in behind that storm. Should get pretty cold late next week. Hopefully that cold will set us up for a storm, before we go back to a warmer pattern again around the 10th.

Verbatim that’s a flip. But I would expect this with a developing nino pattern. Also, following the trend of recent years a back loaded winter seems like the game plan. The question is when exactly.
Wasn't that the original call anyway? Warm December followed by cold and snowy particularly February?

Is wall to wall impossible due to the climate?
Have we ever had one? There was mild weather in 1994 and 1996. Maybe other examples are from before my time.
.93-94 was pretty damn close. From late December thru early March we only had one brief period of moderation.
95-96 had a long break in mid to late January before cold and snow returned.
We could see a month to 6 weeks of wall to wall but unlikely for a 3 month period

Hopefully it will be a quiet 5 days
Beginning Tuesday, November 27, 2018, the WSR-88D radar operated by the NOAA National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ (KDIX) will be down for approximately five days for the refurbishment of the transmitter. Although the form, fit, and function of the transmitter will remain the same, old breakers and cables original to the radar will be replaced with modern fuses and new cables. This will help keep the 20-year-old radar operating smoothly for another 20 years. -

Starting to get that worry feeing. Last week I kept thinking this is a bad sign for winter lovers that we are getting an early season snowstorm. Usually in past more often then not leads to snowless winters. Even while at sametime everyone was saying how good pattern was looking to end November and start December. Kept hearing from multiple sources that we would have a high chance of 2 or more winter storm threats in first week of December. Now things are already changing and not looking so promising early December. Now im hearing perhaps mid to late December this reminds me of a winter in the past not sure what year. But kept hearing cold an snow was coming. It was always 2 more weeks. Next think I knew it was april. Just venting. But hopefully thats not the case this year
That was 2011-12. There's never any guarantee of cold and snow so just be patient and whatever happens happens

Ridiculously heavy snow for about 90 seconds, then it stopped almost immediately. That was awesome.

I *vividly* remember that winter when I was 7. Awesome cold... and then playing outside in February and record highs.
.We did manage some snow in March and April that year and an 85 in mid March

How much snow did you get in that one? I think that one was bigger further south?
I had about a foot in under 8 hours. I remember walking to school with nothing on the ground and trudged home in 10" or so

what about the shortest period between 6 inches events? This must be the shortest.

Few saw any plows, many roads were not pretreated and we had many bigger, colder storms hit during rush hour that were nowhere near this impactful.
more people would've planned accordingly and left early or stayed home, schools would've closed etc. Nobody outside of NW NJ expected more than a couple slushy inches with a change to sleet and rain.
