Quite a bit of thunder and lightning with this batch of storms

I think it's because their is a noticeable change in sensible weather from May to June that you don't necessarily see between June and July. Of course it depends on the specific year. For example, this May was really on the wet and cool side. Plus people associate June with school ending and the start of Summer. The same can be said with regards to December. Most people would probably agree that the Winter feel really begins with Thanksgiving weekend.
Autumn has also gotten alot shorter so saying it starts October 1st probably isn't far off

September 1st we can say we are in the home stretch although some consider September 1st the start of fall.
Last year we had that nice cool down in early September and people claiming summer was over, only to see a return to summer by the 10th

I have been visiting Scotland for the last week with my wife. Beautiful here. The UK has been having a ridiculous hot and dry summer. The hills have started now to brown out even in a lot of the highlands which is like unheard of. If anyone watched the British open last weekend you saw it at Carnoustie. Today I’m in Edinburgh and basically feels like a warm muggy night back home. watching big thunderstorm and light show pass off just to my east. These places aren’t used to this kind of weather. Not a single place I’ve been at has AC. But I of course like the heat so it’s been great for us as tourists.
That would be my luck. Go to the UK and end up warm and muggy instead of cool and misty

I'm not buying either incident until I see proof. There hasn't been a confirmed shark attack in NY waters since the 1700s. We often see large schools of blue fish come close to shore in feeding frenzys this time of year. A life guard at Robert Moses was bitten a few summers ago while going for a long swim. It was initially reported as a shark attack but disproven
Apparently they removed a tooth

Two people were bitten by a shark while swimming in the water off Fire Island in Suffolk County, New York, Wednesday morning, according to NBC New York.
Both incidents reportedly happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. The separate incidents occurred at Sailors Haven and Atlantique Beach, which are about 4 miles apart.
The victim of the Atlantique Beach attack is reportedly a 13-year-old boy who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A young girl, who's age is not immediately known, was bitten at Sailors Haven but was able to able to walk out of the ocean after lifeguards came to her aid.
Officials from the city of Islip have reportedly banned swimming at all of its ocean-facing beaches.

Always been lightning bugs, we're now getting to the point they typically go away but before the crickets and other summer nighttime bugs come out

Yeah this year we have about 4 families coming and staying at the same motel. We stay in Wildwood Crest at the ElCoronado.
Anyway thanks, I’m hoping the WAR returns
One of the last years we went it was in late August and it rained the entire week, but my cousins were there and we had a great time just hanging out at the motel even though we didn't go in the water once

Hey guys, just trying to get your ideas of what the week of 7/15 will be like. Wife and kids and I are heading to Wildwood as usual, only two weeks earlier this year. Last year we went the last week of July and it was mostly cloudy with 3 days featuring rain and a few days didn’t leave the 60s, was down right frigid on the beach. Needless to say it was a terrible vacation beach wise and everyone is looking forward to this year. So what are your predictions, what can we expect this year?? Of course I want 95 clear and sunny everyday!!! Lol
I wouldn't worry too much about a repeat of last year

Amy Freeze is the worst weather person I've ever seen on tv. So many mistakes that it's mind-boggling. Today she keeps talking about how saturday is going to be a beautiful sunny day with low humidity, yet every time the 7 day forecast is put up it has a thunderstorm posted for saturday. She is so dumb that she keeps missing that miatake. And I've seen this type of mistake happen so many times with her. She is a complete and utter joke. What a difference from the high quality forecasts from Lee Goldberg and Jeff Smith. I wonder if someone on channel 7 will finally catch the mistake and take that thunderstorm off of saturday the next time they show the 7 day forecast. This is a joke.
Lee tweeted the correct 7 day

Is this the summer month many of us feared?
We were all wondering when one of the +7 months would hit in July or August. Could this be the start or will it fizzle out?
I cant help but think how brutally cold January started this year...and how tamely it ended.
I think it'll end up +4-+5

I never thought I'd have Weather Anxiety, but this upcoming heat wave at times sounds downright apocalyptic! I have some health issues which doesn't help, but gotta work, gotta live. Is this something we haven't seen before here???! (and sorry if I've posted in the wrong place here)
It's really not and not sure why it's being so hyped.

He also overplayed the warm ground, colder surfaces only angle...as did others.
Yes so many were laughing that the city would never get anywhere near their forecast numbers for that reason. Areas that underperformed got skunked more than anything, not because of temps. Unless we're going to start adding astericks to measurements that a foot is only a foot if it a foot accumulates on the pavement

I hate bashing Steve D but he's saying his 4-8 localized 12 was spot on for the city. Maybe some areas didn't make 8 but wasn't the average across the 5 boros more like 9-13"?

Dt 2-4" for most of us. Steve d coating to an inch

Storms are moving pretty quickly so I don't think we'll see those copious amounts but some spots could get multiple cells training over the same area
