  1. Plenty of years had good Decembers followed by cold and dry or mild January's before a backloaded winter. 2002-03. Even 00-01 didn't do much until 3rd week of January after the nye storm. Most years have a break of at least a few weeks
  2. I remember waking up and seeing the back edge clearing south nj and thinking it was about over. Thankfully it slowed and pivoted and we got 6 more hours of heavy snow.
  3. Most places that got over 2 feet did so in like 8 to 10 hours. Just crazy rates. And of course that sharp cutoff sw of Philly. Baltimore and DC completely skunked
  4. Gfs has something around the 5th and the 8th-9th
  5. Guess we could see a quick spike in temps before they start falling again
  6. Looks like highs were adjusted down to low 40s
  7. Looks like no advisory from Upton Wind gusts likely continue to remain in the 30-40mph range tonight with strong CAA allowing substantial BL mixing even overnight. Used 90th percentile of the NBM and winds were still below Wind Advisory criteria, so did not issue a Wind Advisory. Peak gusts during this period may touch advisory levels, but right now, it looks isolated.
  8. Probably the same poster who canceled winter a week ago
  9. Nice overperforming storm. Forecast that morning was 1 to 3. Then upgraded to 3 to 6 in the afternoon and ended up with close to 8.
  10. Nothing melted yesterday and after a low of 17 and clouds don't expect much to melt today either.
  11. Looks like another windy period Monday night and Tuesday. Gusts to 40+
  12. Part of it is we all look at snow maps instead of soundings but yes the gfs and other colder models kept showing snow in areas that started as sleet and then got dry slotted
  13. So at the end of the day these models are only useful inside 12 hours like the hrrr. 72 hours out it was jackpotting Baltimore
