  1. Caught the tail end of the cluster of storms that moved SE out of KY this morning. It kind of split my house and went east and west, but at my office in downtown Morristown it came a flood literally. Over an inch in 15min with lots of lightning. Apparently there was some hail just to my NW in Grainger Co but not so much here in town. Just a fast as it came in, it went out, and all the clouds cleared out with bright sunshine. Man is it muggy out there now!
  2. I just got home and checked the station. Looks like I recorded 3.77in today. I’m reminded why it’s hard to use Radarscope to perfection, but it generally will give you an idea. If I were to literally go down the hill in my neighborhood to the lake though, they have definitely received over 4in and then just across on the other side of the lake is Bean Station and Mooresburg. There, over 5-6in of rain fell.
  3. Well the break didn’t last long. Looks like it just wants to pour all day long! Radarscope estimates over 4in for mby now, but I’m not at home, so can’t check it now. Crazy how stationary this band is!
  4. Finally the firehouse is off at the house for the moment. Ended up with around 2.73in of rain for the moment. Kinda glad I was on the southern end of it, as like Carver said, just 4mi to my W/NW, Radarscope is estimating Bean Station has had close to 6in of rain!!!
  5. Very heavy rain training over my location this morning, although I am kind of on the southern end of it. Currently at about 1.10in for the day and still pouring. It comes and goes in very heavy bands but just keeps training over me. Looks like the band may be lifting north ever so slightly for the moment, so it may come to an end soon for now. Looks like as the front pushes south later, it may push the whole thing back south later on. Hopefully the areas that have been the driest can get in the band at some time today or tomorrow.
  6. Had another good rain overnight, bringing the total to 4.46in. Like John said, when it rains, it just pulses up and keeps going. Whether it’s storms or just rain, it keeps on regenerating over the areas it rains on. A fantastic way to help alleviate the drought. I’m not sure it will fill the lakes up the rest of the way to their summer pool level, but it is sure beginning to make a difference.
  7. Only .20 today so far, but combined with yesterday I’m at 3.84in for the weekend! When these storms set up and train, they mean business!
  8. 2.50 in so far today. A flood warning was issued for Greene Co, but not sure why not for the NE part of Hamblen though. All of that in Greene Co. came through here first.
  9. Have had several intense rounds of rain this morning and currently. So far 2.35in of rain and storms still training over my area. This is definitely the most rain in one day that I’ve had in a long time.
  10. Despite decent rain in a few places over the past couple weeks, it’s also very dry here as well. The problem is it’s not been widespread. Cherokee is also about 15 ft lower than it should be, and TVA says it’s not going up anymore. In fact, they said it should actually drop lower into the Fall. I suppose if we got a ton of rain, it could rise a little, but it’s not looking like a good lake year for recreation anywhere around here.
  11. Missed out on a decent storm this evening that hit the south and west part of the county down near MRX. Looks like they picked up around an inch there. Only 0.04 here for me in Russellville.
  12. Welcome! I live here in Hamblen Co. as well. We have a good group here but not many posters from Hamblen Co. Great to have you on here. I see the red tag, are you a met at MRX?
  13. 37° this morning at the house with patches of frost around! I knew when it was already 45 by 11 last night that it was probably going to be in the 30’s this morning. The wind died completely down and the dry airmass did the rest. This is just 2 days shy of the latest frost I’ve ever seen, and that was years ago. Really impressed with the cold this month, it’s been something else!
  14. Wow, at the last minute, a frost advisory was extended for one more row of counties south of what MRX had, which put my area in it as well. I figured there would probably be some frost, but I see it was MRX being their conservative selves. Anyway, sure enough, when I stepped outside, there is frost here in the low areas behind the house. Temp is 37 on my station.
  15. Well would ya look at that. MRX had to pull out the ol frost advisory for Northeast TN, the plateau, and SW VA. They had been acknowledging that they might have to issue one. It’s a conversation that probably belongs in banter to a degree, but there’s no mistaking this airmass. It’s quite cool out there today!
  16. I was surprised at the rain we had here this evening. Decent little storm with thunder and lightning. Picked up around .20, although I know some areas got more.
  17. How is TRI doing with this? I haven’t seen many reports from up that way?
  18. It’s picked back up here again in the last 30min. Quarter sized flakes mixing in at times but also some graupel as well.
  19. Winding down here now. Have around 1/2in it has been a nice treat to finish off the season
  20. Beginning to look like that here in Morristown now too. Rooftops and cars are covered and the grass is getting white as well. Would estimate 1/4-1/2in here too
  21. Pouring snow here in Morristown with a heavy dusting.
  22. Absolutely hammering in Morristown at the moment!
  23. Starting to see flakes mix in here in Morristown.
  24. I’m so sorry to hear that Daniel Boone! I will pray for you and your family.
  25. Had a rain/snow mix this morning here as well. It will be cold tonight, but looks like it’ll be even colder next Tues morning if that airmass verifies. Looks like some lows well down into the 20’s with that and some snow flurries/showers around as well.
