  1. We may disagree on some of this, but I do share your passion for the life up here and admire your honesty. None of us have an infinite number of winters to enjoy, so I'm not willing to piss one or two of them away rooting for crap conditions (though in reality, none of us have any control) Life is full of a-holes. They're not the people I'm skiing with or hanging at the bar afterward with so they don't bother me. The market will correct itself; it always does.
  2. 90 percent of NYC/NJ snow in 2021 fell in a 3 week stretch in Feb and that season was well above average. NYC/NJ climate is rarely a 2 month snow pack climate. Outside of the best years, you hope for a good 2-3 week stretch and Feb and March are by far the snowiest averages.
  3. very few I bet. Most of the snow haters either get off on the trolling high or the defense mechanism of not wanting to be disappointed. The ball busting and sarcasm though is priceless. That I do get and it's what makes this forum superior to all the other ones. That and the actual knowledge in here. But the whiny, it's never going to snow again stuff gets old.
  4. Completely agree. Trying to control things you can't will always lead to disappointment. And let's be honest, there's no one on here who would be pissed if their ratter winter got ruined by a two foot blizzard. It's an emotional response. You don't stumble onto a New England Weather forum because you hate snow; no matter what games some people play.
  5. Single digits still. Cold outperformed a bit for a change. Productive snow making weather. .
  6. Nam wouldn’t be terrible. Nice little thump, rain, dryslot and some decent backend. .
  7. Hello powder my old friend…still light snow and winter cold today. Solid 6 at the top (and no slant sticking) .
  8. Not a bad little burst last night..4 at 1900 and I’m guessing more up top. It Should ski well today. .
  9. About 4” of the fake stuff last night and still snowing lightly. Nice winter vibe. .
  10. People who never could/would buy a 2nd home did because rates were below 3 percent. Their payments were so low, it became profitable to STR it. The fed has made it clear that party is over til at least 2024 or beyond. Used to be you rent for a few weeks to cover expenses, but the profit has become to great to ignore. We like to rent the 2-3 big weeks to cover the taxes. we have rental property in jersey and could do well with this place up here, but we didn’t buy our place here for that purpose; we bought it to use it for us and the kids and to be honest, I’d be perfectly content not renting it out at all. I’m probably the minority though, just because I love the place and the mountain so much, and want to end up living up here full time eventually. .
  11. “Maybe some of the new people who don’t really fit in with the old ways will bail too” Perhaps we can have you stand by the welcome to Vermont sign and decide who fits in and who doesn’t. It’s well worth the cost of people’s business, property etc. As long as they look a certain way and say the right things, right? .
  12. Torch tiger is much more enjoyable. Won’t hear from q when things are good. I don’t buy the anti snow bs either. It’s a weather forum. We’re not exactly a hot commodity. They’re here for a reason. .
  13. Tahoe in 11 days…I’m actually nervous about getting there from reno. It’s like non stop shutdowns and chain requirements right now. .
  14. Aren’t they getting a big lift upgrade this year? .
  15. Okemo?? I’ve heard they been killing it in the snowmaking and grooming department this year. .
  16. It’s not epic, but I was just at loon and they have that place lit up. Really impressive snowmaking. Trails were icy af though. .
  17. Just cut the warmth down to plus 5 and we’re in business up here. This shit is unbearable. One Rainer I get; we’re not vail, but multiple in a row sucks. Tonight at least, we snow. .
  18. Was dumping an hour ago. Lightened up a bit now. Wintery vibe tho. .
  19. Agreed..especially busier weekends it doesn’t matter if you have jays snow totals or the poconos, certain high traffic areas get beat. Even when the snow is not here, they have the temps. They really could have blown all week and with the right system, add at least 2-3 trails. I think the water supply is the main issue. Not sure what it would take to expand or if they need more air. Pf might know more, but I know the snowmaking pond was too low even to finish the build out on ullrs last season with the dry Dec/Jan. I expected this year would be a quiet, evaluation type year for pacific; let’s see what they have to say once the season is over. There are lift needs as well. .
  20. Na, crap year but the averages say there’s still good days to be had. The people who I feel for the most are those that book 5-7 day once a year trips and then walk into this. Jan always a roll of the dice, but if you are a once or twice a year skier, this sucks. And welcome back, dude! .
  21. 3k had it through about 5am. I’d take a quick 5 tmrw to freshen it up. Not going to open much, but they’ve been pretty aggressive with the lack of terrain, so maybe grab a few. Really hoping new owner upgrades snowmaking. This year has highlighted it. They can’t handle more than one trail at a time and it’s about a week to blow, drain, push etc. no refreshing problem areas either. Would love to see them grab 5 fan guns over the summer at least. .
  22. Straight up ice coast conditions today, but it’s actually snowing pretty good right now. Stacking up quick. .
