  1. but that's ok, because we are still shoveling last years CMC snows.
  2. Mon night/ tues especially up north is a decent window, but weds goes to crap again. Best bet is probably killington north and hope the backside of weds trends cooler. I agree it’s not a good 7 days coming up, but I looked at my ski tracks to see what I was skiing the first 10 days of Dec, trail count is about the same. Difference this year is there is a lot of wet going into those trails. .
  3. Okemo was leading the east in open terrain and I’ve heard good reports from there. .
  4. Let me know how it is if you go..was thinking of heading there mon or tues, but those look like some serious thaw/freezes. .
  5. Haha..yes, I meant below freezing. His drama had me fired up .
  6. You’re out of your mind. My backyard in nj has looked like this for a month. I’ve seen flakes already and had multiple mornings below freezing. But yeah, just like august. .
  7. Smuggs and Burke do 1/2 day tix (which is all kids usually do) which aren’t too bad. Jay has a four pack right now for $61 a tix I think…and epic day pass for kids is really reasonable. You have to purchase asap, but can use any day of the season. I think you can get some of the lesser tier mountains for like $30 for kids.
  8. Happy thanksgiving fellow fake snowers.
  9. I ski mostly mid week when I’m not up at jay. Anyone wants to get a group together to ski and for beers, I’m down. I would think southern vt. is the most central, but I’ll go anywhere.
  10. He says that now…amazing how many stories you hear of upper management at everything from the big corporates to the single independent resorts saying they started as a liftie to ski free and meet girls and they never left. hope he has a great season!
  11. You are bringing logic into it again..remember “vail sucks guy” (always knew he existed, but credit you for the term) doesn’t care. He should be parking free because vail is only charging for parking so it can pay stockholders dividends. You see, the hedge funds that own millions of dollars worth of stock, are going to get rich on that $25 parking fee. He will gladly pay $2000 for a pass because the mountain is too crowded, but don’t you dare charge him $25 to park his Land Rover. People often forget that it is a business, and without a profit, it doesn’t exist. Vails not perfect, but to say they haven’t heard some of the complaints and made changes is crap..the minimum wage thing being the biggest. You can’t have new fast lifts, 100 guns on a night, and all the other things people crave from the experience without large corporation with the pockets to fund it. There is a place in the industry for both the vails of the world, as well as the smuggs, magic, jay etc. the ski industry after being in decline for years has seen a gigantic boom. I agree covid did bring it back to an extent, but I have to credit the multi pass (introduced by vail) as contributing as well. .
  12. The irony of watching the same people bitch that the pass is too cheap, while bitching the parking is too expensive.
  13. Na, expressing doubts is all part of it. Keeps snow weenies like me in check. Part of the drug is the chase and the ups and downs…but when you have a red tag and all that knowledge and the best you can do is drop in every couple weeks with a rain umbrella or to point out some 2 day fire red anomaly, I think people just expect more. With all that met degree stuff, at least explain why that blue bomb at 5 days out is going to lead to naked slip and slide instead instead of piles of snow.
  14. But…but..that pope dude and the geese said it’s going to be nothing but warm.
  15. I havn’t been around as long as others, but it seems your hiatus’ are generally timed with cold patterns/big snows only to return when things moderate, no?..but welcome back
  16. Winter starts Nov 15th in NNE, Dec 15th in SNE, northern nj, poconos etc. give or take by latitude/altitude. looks right on track to me.
  17. So climo favored regions will see what climo favors? I’ll see snow at Jay, but not in NJ..got it. .
  18. Still in shock at the number of you that have nj roots and got the hell out… 13-14 was the last time there were multiple sub zero nights in nj I think. There’s been the token one night here or there, but that was the last notable stretch. I think we did it several nights In a row or pretty close that year. I doubt the nj cities have done it in years. Big contrast to jay where we did multiple sub zero Days in a row last Jan. .
  19. I have to push back on that a little. Like PF said, two top to bottom runs pre thanksgiving isn't too bad at Stowe. Mt. Snow is looking at two or more TTB plus some beginner terrain and free fall on the Northface by Thanksgiving...and Hunter has two TTB with Hellgate and Belt, plus it looks like they are aiming for Minka and maybe a few others by Weekend and they don't even have the temps Vermont does. Sugarbush has better latitude and elevation and only managed 1000 of beginner terrain. Honestly, K-Mart has been less than impressive so far. I'm going to attribute it to the non-stop Superstar build out, but that really should only take 3-4 days and with 7 days of non-stop incredible temps and wet bulbs, I would think that system would have been further along on Snowdon. It's the best non stop snowmaking window to start the season in a few years.
  20. It's a great hill. Very old school, laid back vibe and great terrain. They really need natural there to shine, though...and on cold windy days, those lifts take forever. I haven't been there enough to really explore it. Being at Jay and getting an epic or ikon, it just usually gets left out for me, but I do try to make it there at least once a season.
  21. Sounds about right..think about this year, though; they've only had 6 days of snowmaking so far and had every hydrant on superstar going. Without the world cup and a week earlier of snowmaking temps, I'm sure much of Snowdon, would be done.
