Ok. Guess I misconstrued what you said. Storm chasers that purposely put themselves in harms way and ignore governmental warnings? Yes. Charge them for man hours, fuel, flight cost, etc. They should have to pay for that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
As someone who deployed to Staten Island two days after Sandy hit, I feel like people who don’t have the ability to evacuate during a mandatory evacuation should be given transport away. Many people don’t have the means to evacuate. How can you bill someone who pays taxes, but doesn’t have the means to escape? I put my life on the line for many years as a public servant. The public’s taxes paid my salary. I was there to give assistance to the best of my ability. I’ll be damned if someone should be charged for me doing my job. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

We had heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning last night. Picked up .75” when it was all said and done. We’ve gotten about 2” over the last five days.

The problem there is that the long term trade off for buying four AC window units for hot weather and four space heaters for cold weather is highly increased electrical bills. Get the new HVAC unit that is “green” cuts down on electrical costs both short and long term. In the long run it just makes better fiscal sense to buy a whole new upstairs HVAC unit. The new unit is set to be installed on May 7th. Yay!! About time. It will have been almost six weeks from the initial service call when they finally get it put in.

Sounds like a good plan. Problem is that it’s the upstairs unit. We have a separate unit for downstairs which is the main area of the house. The only thing upstairs are four bedrooms (including the master) two bathrooms, and my wife’s office/craft room. The downstairs unit works fine, but I’m worried that it might go soon as well. They’re both 13 years old and were cheap contractor grade made by Weather King. It’s inevitable that the downstairs unit will fail at some point. Can’t justify spending money on four window units. I’m kinda at the mercy of the HVAC company.

HVAC Unit has been broken (needs replacement) since March 23. Unit has been on order according to my HVAC guy. Been a month now with no work and 80’s just around the corner. Now he won’t return my phone calls. Starting to get pissed.

Looking at radar and the squall line is over the Chowan River and headed towards me in Pasquotank County. It’s about 2015 hours and I should see the storms by 2100. The wind has picked up appreciably in the last hour or so. It’s also cooled off quite a bit since sundown. I can see lightning to the west and hear the thunder as well. Gonna suck having to put the windows down with the HVAC out, but I have a nice big Wind Machine floor fan. Hopefully I can sleep without sweating my b**ls off.

Sitting at 84 here in Elizabeth City. Quite muggy as well. HVAC crapped out last week and I’m waiting for the new unit and air handler to come in.

If you’re looking for a -NAO, don’t worry. It’s coming... in April and will last through October only to magically go positive again just in time for next winter.

@SteveVa Virginia Beach public works and VDOT we’re out brining the roads in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake this morning. I can’t speak for Suffolk, Norfolk, or the cities on the Peninsula (Hampton , Newport News, or Williamsburg) but it looks like they think they’re getting some wintry weather this weekend. .

Old man in what looked like a grayish white bathrobe was walking down my street earlier. Had this huge cane. Thing was a tall as he was. He had this killer hipster beard along with sandals.
