I found a huge fallen oak tree that had chicken of the woods all over it. It was beautiful stuff.
Feels much warmer and more humid than it did this morning. Temps is 67
Definitely mushrooms! But I'm thinking it hasn't been wet long enough to find any. Well see. I lucked out here. The thunderstorm I got early Saturday morning really soaked the ground. I'm back to my normal swampy conditions. Other then that thunderstorm it's been sprinkles and drizzle and I'd be watering.
Classic dreary day. I'm planning on rolling a couple joints and taking a 7 mile hike. I'm going to take pictures of moss. Yes.. I'm going to smoke pot in the woods and take pictures of trees and moss. Today's weather is perfect for it. Looks like another round of steady light rain developing in VA.
The day after it hit I explored the damage path where it crossed route 3. I met this poor girl and her dad. She had this blank stare that I'll never forget. Her dad said she was working at the Taco Bell. Their was nothing left of it except a wall and some benches that were bolted to the foundation. It cross Route 3 and tore up chunks of the highway. I saw a lot of unbelievable things. I was very humbled by what I saw.
I was just in my greenhouse checking on my tomato, pepper, and cannabis plants. I was surprised at how strong the wind is ripping. It must be the new leaves on the trees because it sounds almost sketchy windy.
It's wild how we go from the same weather for 6 months straight (40's and low 50's) to basically summer, overnight. When I was a kid, 35 years ago we had four seasons. Now we have two. Fall and summer.
I hiked up South Mountain yesterday. It was only 35 degrees at Annopoils Rocks with snow showers and wind. It's still deep winter above 1500'. No signs of spring above that.
The sky looks like a June day with a cold ULL crossing the area. There's definitely going to be some interesting storm cells today. There's been a good amount of sun here all morning.
I'm going for a 10 mile hike in Crownsville. We'll see what happens with the storms. I'll be out there in it. I'm sitting in my truck waiting for this batch of rain to pass. I don't want to get soaked to early. Radar looks pretty ominous to the sw, imo. My area has had 1.5-2" so far. It looks like another couple rounds building.
