Its 6 acres, and yes its mostly wooded. The only clearing is right around the house, and mostly what you see in the photo. There are some trees close to the house I need to take down.

Thanks. I have gone through many a lawn revamps over the years lol. With all the trees, the moles. moss, its not easy. My strategy has been to lessen the grass area, as you can see with the mulch areas and the fire pit, lol. At least now it is manageable to the point where I may be able to water it constantly when the sun angle is high and it gets hot and dry in mid summer. Its a battle every year to keep it from burning to a crisp on the sunny side of the yard in July and August

Mowed for the first time today. Impressed with this black beauty tall turf type fescue. Planted it last fall and it has come up early and already super green, which its known for. Whether it survives the long, hot(probably dry) summer remains to be seen. Tough conditions in the woods. Also got quite a bit of new mulch down. Easily 2 weeks ahead of schedule with the growing season.

Remember this- we want a -AO above all. If the AO is only weakly positive, then a favorably placed EPO ridge can compensate. When we have a ++AO like this winter, we are pretty well fukked no matter what. There may well be a correlation between that and the tropical forcing tendencies, and if what psu is suggesting becomes the base state for winters going forward, get used to NC winters here.

If I can get the mower going, I will mow today for the first time. Mostly to whack the chickweed down so the emerging grass can better choke it out.

Might not verify, but given it is Spring, good chance it will. Maybe one day we will again see a HL h5 look like this when it actually matters.

Well, I think it has been pretty well established that those who are advanced in age and/or have underlying conditions are most at risk of dying from this virus. In Italy, the culture is very close knit- multiple generations of families spending more time together than other places in general. This would naturally increase the risk for older folks. Other factors include increased testing relative to other places, and specifically how they determine the cause of death.

Its been pretty wet here lately. Just about 2.5" for the month, and much of that over the last 10 days. Looks like an area wide 1 inch deal for Monday, then another possible event by Wed. The seasonal wetland in the woods on the back part of my property was unseasonably dry 2 weeks ago. just a small puddle in one place. It is rapidly expanding now. Just ordered more larvicide. It looked for a while like I might just need to drop a few dunkers here and there. By the end of this week I will probably have to "seed" the whole area.

Looks like the showers here may be moving out. Picked up 0.21" so far. Wasn't really expecting much of anything. Lots to do outside so hopefully we get some rapid clearing later this morning. Tomorrow looks like a great day, followed by a soaking rain for Monday.

Its been over for a long time, folks. Get out and enjoy the sun and 80 degree temps. Just keep 2 meters apart. Too bad the chances for decent convection later on looks meager on guidance. Another thing we perpetually suck at.
