  1. This is true, but there are plenty of worthwhile endeavors that involve a relatively high rate of failure....and like I said, it's also about the learning experience. I just don't see the need to judge, that's all....we all have our shit and no one forces you to read it. There are plenty of people who would think we are nuts for spending hours upon hours lifting every week, too lol
  2. I honestly don't unless there is a threat...I will to do a March preview next week, but after that, I won't.
  3. So there won't be anything better? Maybe I borrowed your crystal ball? Sorta, kinda?
  4. I don't see the point in riding around aimlessly on a snowmobile for an entire weekend in North Pube Brook, ME, but like you said...to each their own. Everyone has their own outlets.
  5. I'm not checking models.....draft hasn't started yet, so there really isn't. much to do when I have a break from the kids and work.
  6. The irony of the dude calling seasonal forecasting "a waste of time" implying that that there isn't a better use of time than tracking storms that will never arrive. To me there is something liberating in the acceptance of weather and withdrawing emotional investment, regardless of how quickly it becomes more pleasant to be outside.
  7. Well, if there was ever a period to take your chances with that, its during this Pacific regime.
  8. I didn't take it personally, but how is it a waste of effort? Why didn't we just quit medicine back in the 1800's?? We couldn't keep people alive past 55, anyway...why bother upgrading models past the LFM...forecasting weather is hard, so why bother....loser's lament.
  9. I'm fine with just moving on at this point. If something pops up, great, but I'm done looking at long range charts and chasing.
  10. That is a Modoki La Nina and a 7th consecutive shitty winter here in all likelihood.
  11. Not so much the MJO, but more what is biasing it west.
  12. I just want a warm March at this point....honestly. Aside from a rogue bowling ball and assuming 2/24 doesn't work out, its over... and Steve can quote that and hang it on his wall in the doggie kennel.
  13. It's just a shit Pacific period...shame on me for misinterpreting that (again) and thinking we could still have a decent winter. I was wrong. But it's not because of the El Nino...people saying that are also wrong.
  14. Plenty of strong El Ninos were decent, but unfortunately this wasn't one of them. Over the past several years it really hasn't mattered what ENSO has done because the extra tropical Pacific has sucked. Anyone who has a clue knows this wasn't a prototypical super El Nino with a huge GOA low...its sucked because we can't shake the west PAC warm pool that continues to favor Maritime forcing, regardless of ENSO.
  15. I can't believe this is my worst winter since 2012...I need 10.5" to catch last year and I am doubting it.
  16. Yea, I won't be suprised at all if it just fails...intimated as much and got the 3rd degree for it.
  17. The issue isn't whether it's coming so much as whether it's down the drain.
  18. That is like you to the Lip N Hips song..just replace the snow with doogies.
  19. 2019-2020 was technically neutral and 2020-2021 wasn't that snowy in New England.
  20. I'm just frustrated...its difficult because this place serves two purposes for me....an outlet to think and speak freely with emotion, as well as a place to disseminate forecast info and sometimes the two get get obfuscated. That is part or my motivation for the blog....to distinguish the two.
