  1. Past hour
  2. Northern half of the Somerset Co looks like it will get a nice little line. Missing me by about 5 miles.
  3. But storms are on the increase
  4. Thundering here in somerset but doesn't look like anything severe approaching. It seems to be splitting this area
  5. heavy rain here and some cloud to ground, but the bulk of it is over you.
  6. Just some light rain and a few rumbles here with the first cell. It was a little rowdy in the Greenwood Lake area with some trees down, this one slid just to our south. We’ll see what happens with the second round of activity that’s on our doorstep.
  7. Good storms to my north, south, east, and west this season
  8. Repeat of last summer? Seems like everything missed south by 10 miles
  9. Under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning here now.
  10. 1975-76 was the opposite of this year. That one was considered a strong la nina by the NOAA ONI (peaked at -1.7), while the RONI only peaked at -1.14 1976 clearly marked the transion from a la nina state (which began in 1949-50) to an el nino state. The question is whether this current la nina state started in 1998, 2005, or 2007. If it started in 1998, then the la nina state should be coming to an end soon. If in 2007, we might have another decade before we transition back into an el nino state.
  11. Rates have been pushing 6"/hr here...not too bad for a morning in May
  12. Cloudy and storms rolling through 72 and a bit humid 65 DT. We'll see how much clearing we have after lunch and try to push to streak to 3 straight 80+days for much of the area, otherwise steady in the 70s. Breaks into W- PA now. Warmer tomorrow , next outside chance of 90 or 2 reading in the warmer spots. The weekend looks best Fri/Sat and rain/storm chances Sunday and Memorial day. Trough swings through and we wend the month near / cooler than normal 5/27- 5/3. Heights rise to open next month 6/1 - 6/4 with a brief warmup but tendency for ridge out west with troughinng into the NE early persistenton guidance. https://cdn.star.nesdis.noaa.gov//GOES16/ABI/SECTOR/NE/GEOCOLOR/GOES16-NE-GEOCOLOR-600x600.gif
  13. Local utilities reporting 20,000 power outages in the area out here.
  14. Same at my house in Bardonia. Someone called into WFAN and reported golf ball sized hail in Croton from that cell. Also a tornado, but it probably wasn't an actual tornado.
  15. Storm just blew through here. Nice wind producer and there will undoubtedly be tree damage relating to downbursts in my area.
  16. Small cell overhead now. Some thunder and mod rain. Looks like most will split this area though.
  17. October 18th of that year (1990) had an outbreak as well. Most of what I can find are write-ups that might not be DC area centered and archived articles from the WaPo and similar.
  18. Looking SSW towards Southbury/Roxbury from Bethlehem. Incoming. Brother on 84 in Brookfield had to pull over it was so severe.
  19. Getting a downpour at home. That cell over mercer is looking pretty nice now but not warned yet. Could clip SI
  20. My gauge isn’t out but probably got .1” from that cell. Light stuff.
  21. Pretty decent light show we had going here with some nice IC strikes.
  22. He's definitely lost right now. That being said in the past 30 days only O'Hearn, Adley, Cowser and Gunnar have an OBP above .300. They have to get some patience at the plate
