gopack42
Hey guys. I'm not on the boards much except for the chatter on snow and hurricanes, so I'll be monitoring things now that the tropics are heating up, but it has definitely been a nice break from the heat the last few days. I was on vacation in Maine last week, and I get home and it's actually cooler than several days I had up there. I was hoping to get under the 50 degree mark on the thermometer the other night. Came close. This is why I moved here permanently!
Maggie Valley Steve
Another day of CAD for the Mountains although the temperature warmed about 7 degrees today ~vs~ the past several days. No rain today, but we'll see what unfolds later this week.
Met1985
It poured the rain last night and has been raining today again. Very wet.
Met1985
Another day of multiple showers and storms and another day not hitting a high of 70 degrees. Only made it to 68. Freaking amazing for this time of the year.

Tyler Penland
Been busy this summer so haven't been on the forum much. Absolutely loving this weather. I went out to Yellowstone and the Beartooths and brought their temperatures back with me so you're welcome. LOL

Felt amazing last night rolling into Billings with no humidity and low 60’s. Walked to downtown and back and didn’t sweat, I could get use to this lol.
Met1985
Just a stellar day today. Had a high of 74 and a current temp of 65 already. Going to be a beautiful night.

My best friend lives in Billings and I went out to see him. We hiked Mt Rearguard which was my first hike up to a 12kft peak (and highest significant hike over 9k). The elevation absolutely whooped my butt but it was worth it. The first night in Yellowstone there was a tinge of frost on the meadow and we dropped to 33/34º, super super nice. I got off the plane on my second, and unplanned, connection in DC from Denver and the humidity hit me in the face for the first time in a week. No fun.

Been feeling amazing walking the dog in the mornings and I can walk to and from downtown which is a major change from living out in Upper Crabtree. Still lots to explore because it’s been something like 15 years since I’ve been out here, looking forward to the fast approaching Fall and shall see what winter holds. Weather station is up and running as of today.
Met1985
Another beautiful day. Had a high of 75 with a shower this afternoon. I'm not sure if we hit 80 or not next week either.
Met1985
Had a high of only 75 degrees. Again well below average and if Tropical storm Erin stays away we could well end up well below average for August. The medium to extended range looks below average right through the end of the month.
Maggie Valley Steve
Another wet day in the Valley where my high today was 74. Looks like a potential flooding issue overnight, particularly for the SW Mountains. Below normal highs looks likely until at least the end of the week, I not so sure a return to above normal will return anytime soon. This is the second week of busted forecasts by GSP.
Met1985
Looks like we are going to see some heavy rainfall tonight especially in the SW mountains. It's moving in now. More rainfall. This pattern is completely opposite from last year.
Maggie Valley Steve
Another wet day in the Valley. Temperatures have warmed a bit, but I still haven't hit 80 this month! I'm seeing hits of a fairly strong front arriving next week. Fall is approaching and we continue to loose datlight.

Maggie Valley Steve
For the second day in a row we've had storms nearby, nothing at the house. A weak cold front isoving through and we're 35 days until Fall arrives. Perhaps someone can start our Mountain Fall/Winter discussions. It won't be long!

I really like NWS GSP. But, they have really botched my precip and temp forecast this Summer. A big blob of rain covering Asheville south most of the morning and my point forecast was 20 percent chance of rain. .. or, they have thrown up 80 percent chance of storms many times this year, and the radar will stay dry as a bone for the whole area. That's probably too critical. Mowing in the rain for 2 hours does that to you.
