Clearly the heaviest was east of me, and probably west of here, ONLY 2.51”, 9.28” for the month. Light rain falling, pressure still slowly dropping, down to 988.7, 56/54.

Impressive amounts locally. Looks like we’re in the backside of the low and will be there for a few hours. I doubt we will get any heavy rain later with this backside hanging around.

A section of Upton’s AFD,

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/... Winds have been increased with this update to account for gusts that have occurred higher than expected. Moderate to heavy rainfall is beginning to taper with the low moving into the Lower Hudson Valley and SW CT. A Flood Watch remains in effect for the Lower Hudson Valley through 11 am. This area has racked up 1-3" inches of rain with many of the higher amounts in Orange county. Some wrap-around precipitation will move through mid to late morning through much of the area as the low exits north and east. As we get into late morning and early afternoon, the low will continue to exit northeast of the area. This brings in drier air & cuts off most of the more intense precip. Spotty to isolated showers may still occur into the early afternoon. Another chance for brief downpours with showers and thunderstorms may occur with a frontal passage behind the departing low late this afternoon into early tonight. Instability is marginal, so only a few rumbles of thunder are expected. Flood impacts will be minimal given the quicker progression of these showers with the front and given coverage will be less compared to this morning. Ahead of and with the front, a LLJ with move through west to east, which could lead to a spike in winds, leading to gusty conditions.

.31 which is good because we really needed it after four dry days…

Let me go on record as saying that 70 degrees 70 dew point and foggy with 100% humidity (which caused me to turn on my a/c before 7 am) is much much worse than 100 degrees with a 58 dew point and 25% humidity and sunshine, for which I would never have to turn on the a/c.

With another tropically wet month coming up I'll be spraying for mosquitoes and other nasty bugs outside.

Both those situations have my AC on, as it been for the past several days. The bugs are indeed bad and would you look at that radar, here comes some more much needed rain...

I'm really worried about these ticks Rob, I see there's large numbers of them in parks here.  It's going to be a bad season (it already is.)

SMITHTOWN, Long Island (WABC) -- "Don't let a tick make you sick."

That's the message doctors across the country are spreading after discovering that tick bites are on the rise.

The CDC estimates 500,000 people in the U.S. will get Lyme disease this year, and all it takes is a single tick bite.

Wildlife experts say, from what they are seeing, it could be a rough season.

Ticks, and tick born illness, is nothing new up here. One has to take proper precautions and hope for the best. Don’t let tv hype impact you so much.

A few years ago a deer fell into my pool at my other house in the Poconos and died and I had to call in the game warden to help remove the deer.  Well long story short, removal of the deer was much easier than what happened the rest of that summer.  A massive tick infestation, I found six ticks on my clothes that summer, I bought that chemical from Amazon that you're supposed to put on your clothes to keep them away but still had to change clothes after each time working in my garden and wash my gardening clothes in a bucket before taking them inside, etc.  The ticks were of the small black variety and thankfully none of them got under my skin (literally), although one did manage to get into my hair but I removed it before it was able to do anything else.

I found out later to leave food for opossums since they are the ticks' worst nightmare, they eat them like crazy.
