Currituck may get a  foot

Moderate (to locally heavy) snow is starting to spread
into northeast NC and far SE VA this afternoon. The most
significant snow impacts are expected across far southeast VA
into northeast NC, roughly from far southern Virginia Beach over
to southern Bertie County, NC and over to the northern Outer
Banks. A band of 6-10" is likely (where FGEN forcing will be the
strongest), with locally higher amounts (potentially 12"+)
possible, especially closer to the Albemarle Sound and over the
northern Outer Banks. Unfortunately, there will likely be a very
sharp cut-off in total snow amounts right over the heart of
Hampton Roads, with southern portions of the region well into
warning criteria and areas towards Williamsburg only seeing ~1"
(at best). Further to the NW (towards RIC/central VA), very dry
air remains in place (2 PM dewpoint at RIC is just +4 degrees).
Only a dusting to 1" is forecast up to roughly US-360, with
little to no accumulation expected NW. Snow rates of 1-2" per
hour are possible this evening into early Sunday morning,
especially across northeast NC into far southeast VA.

Snow just started picking up. Nice dendrites finally falling. Very strong band just to my south ready to Pivot up. I guess it's go time now. Really hard to squeeze anything good with this dry air mass. But looks like we finally done it

This band coming in from the southeast was pretty good. Another one just to the south of that. So we're starting to cook a little bit. Wakefield radar filling in back northwest

Some real heavy stuff to your west that will go thru

Precip out west is from the ULL, which will not affect us. But I’m not sure if you’re referring to things that far west. Our precip is coming from the developing coastal that is pushing banding from the south.

VA. Beach is on the struggle bus.  Nothing yet.

Its a slow ramp up to light snow. I finally have steady light snow. I'm in Currituck 13 miles south of the Virginia border right on the sound. Somehow the wind took a mini break after being strong all day.

Been coming down steady and sticking in Hilton, Newport News for about 2 hours. If it continues until midnight we might well get 2-3, which would be a pleasant surprise given the short ranges continue to give us 0.0.

idk, we can't sustain any heavy banding throughout the Southside. Everything just dies as it crosses the state line

The low system is just now crossing the florida peninsula from the gulf into the atlantic. Things should be picking up over the next couple of hours

Looking at radar you can see the battle ground with the dry air is the VA/NC boarder. Even the returns further north are fading south. At this point, it’s safe to say anyone north of the boarder will most likely not see any banding that would cause accumulations outside of a dusting. On and off flurries/light snow are probably it for many on the Southside. Bands that appear to be heading north erode away and almost appear to reform further south. Storm pc is in a great spot.
