nrgjeff
Bless BAMs heart the Euro, NBM and everything else knew also. If they think nobody knows about other models.. shit! Meanwhile I'm up for jinx post of the year.. CAD never wraps around in winter (CHA). Only when I want to chase storms it stabilizes things. Revised rules. CAD wraps around only when I don't want it; kills storm chances, promotes ice. When I want help for snow it fails. KCHA is running a couple degrees (or more) below guidance. Still think we'll thaw Sunday, but I'm gonna need power through Saturday for college hoops on TV!

Here’s my issue with him… I actually think he’s good and he did a good job with this by going with the euro, which is probably gonna be closest and that’s good. However, he acts like he’s never wrong and that’s the issue people take with him and when people challenge him on what he says that’s when he gets mad. People would not challenge him on his forecast if he wouldn’t act like he’s never wrong..
nrgjeff
I want to make sure that's not Barrons Wx. Their official page is good. They were a major pioneer in weather radar display for commercial use. Much respect! I'm just struggling with his forecasting lane.

nrgjeff
Vols game last night was the same as tracking Southern snow. Got it! Ope, OT Comfy lead. Ope, one-pointer! Vols reeled in the road win. Let's do the same in East Tenn!

Jed33
Oh my! As cold as the temps were I bet that’s making for some bad ice problems! On one hand it wiped out a lot of snow but on the other hand since it’s been below freezing all day I imagine it’s created more problems. Ice mud!

Honestly, it tells part of the story. When we look back in a few years, it will be great information.

GBOVolz
FYI… I ate lunch with Mike Witcher and Anthony Cavallucc. We had some great conversations and it was really cool. I got to learn a lot of stuff that I didn’t know about the weather and just how everything works at MRX. I’m not sure if this is common knowledge and I haven’t heard this but apparently the WPC is going to take over the forecast duties for all of the local NWS stations. I think he said they already do the 4 to 8 day forecast and MRX does the 1-3 day forecast. .

GBOVolz
Matt Hinkin passed away, he was 62. I didn't realize he was only in his 20s when he made his infamous huge miss on the Blizzard of '93. I do not remember that even though I was a senior in high school. What did he say about the storm?.
GBOVolz
So I guess I can tell this story now about Matt. (I wasn’t going to tell this out of respect while he was there) My mom was in an assisted living facility between Powell and Halls for a month or so not long ago. The first day she was there I went to eat lunch with her and Matt Hiken was sitting at a table. It took me a little while, but I finally asked the nurse if Matt could have a normal conversation with a person. The next time I went to see my mom I walked in the facility and on the left there’s a nice little sitting area with a fireplace and a big screen TV. There set Matt watching The Weather Channel. This was a day or two before we got that pretty good snow this year so I went over and sat next to him and I asked…. “what do you think about the snow, Matt?” he replied…… “looks like it’s gonna be cold enough, but they are talking like moisture might be an issue”. Anyway, that encounter was something that I’ve been thinking about the last day or so. I didn’t talk to him after that because he seemed to just disappear from the facility. (he was probably in the hospital and we did not know it). He was in a wheelchair, but his mind was pretty sharp It seemed. Makes me wonder if he might have gotten pneumonia or something like that. I wish I had talked to him more because it bothers me that I might have been the last person he talked about the weather with. Life is too short!!!.
