Doesn’t have to be an argument if snowfan stops making this same BS complaint every time I make legit analysts about our climo. I don’t tell him to shut up every time he says something I disagree with, and he says plenty. I just move on. Or maybe I comment that I disagree. But I never ever ever tell anyone what to talk about. He can F off with that BS.
I think you know I think you are right on this debate…. And you have every right imo to post in the LR thread that a storm might’ve worked 5/10/15/20/50 years ago… that interests me greatly and I know it does others. But when someone says it doesn’t matter, there’s no analog, every storm is different and misses the essence of what you are saying, it takes two to tango and someone should just drop it and “lose” the argument, I guess is my take.
I’m bad at doing that. Just ask my girlfriend. lol- 1

I’m glad I’m too young to remember what winter was like. Minus ‘09-10 I’ve got no memories of any winter before 2014, really. And even then I’ve only seen 2-3 years of total garbage - accounting for the fact I like tracking like 90% as much as the actual snowfall

Looks like I will probably be down in the DC area this summer. Got an offer to volunteer at the LWX NWS forecast office. Very excited. I think I would be looking at 16 hours per week.
That’s amazing! Really want more young people (like me) who can contribute great content (unlike me) here. Congrats!!!- 1

Seeing a snow report on mPING in Purcellville… wonder if in the center of these cells it’s at least partially snow or graupel?

Just heard thunder for the first time this year. It was distant to the SW. But thunder in February is pretty rare around here.
I’ve not been paying attention to the weather since winter ended… were there supposed to be thunderstorms today? Storm by Front Royal looks legit for Feb -
We will finish +11 with 2 blizzards. One before Christmas and one early March
that would be an A+ winter
If it’s not gonna snow might as well be short sleeve weather- 3

gfs shows blue on march 1st
I hear the CFS is active -
I’ve taught many people how to ski. Liberty is a good mountain to learn and not far. If you ever wanted a free lesson let me know.
May one day take you up on that. I’ve got duck feet and struggle to slow down/turn. Usually just zoom straight down and crash at the end to stop. Now that I’m slowly getting older… bad idea lol- 1

Early March h5 look has improved some on the last few runs of the GEFS, with a temporary PNA ridge going up and a wave tracking east under a Hudson/Baffin ridge. Might be a chance here.
I’ve already called dibs on Mar 4-7. I have receipts!!- 4

We always get a -NAO in the first few weeks of April… don’t check that stat but it’s well supported by vibes

Lake effect stuff dies in the mountains. Most we get is flurries.
I think the point is just that a frozen lake = signs of cold in the areas of the country where we need cold air to stack up.
Cold is important for snow, believe it or not.- 1

UVA basketball is so ugly lol
1-11 free throws- 1

I mean, maybe the Euro will continue to hang on to the idea. GFS just won't budge, which I would think it would have done by now. But then again, the GFS had me getting 4 to 6 inches last night.
Unfortunately the GFS is worse than the ICON. And probably the CMC -
I said we should all just wait until this weekend to see if we would be tracking something. Well, here we are. It's time to call it yall
Aren’t we sorta tracking next weekend? It’s a long shot but there is something there.- 1

Wicked impressive. Sucks that wasn’t us though- 2

i'm done with dynamics. I want it to be 18 degrees at onset. no cold air sucks
One day we’ll see a cold smoke storm again. But yeesh it’s been a while. If our January storms hadn’t happened outside of prime daylight hours the burbs might be at 0” this year.- 1

The roads, even untreated side street, never caved and it’s already over
Really? I’m shocked. Really must’ve actually got quite lucky. I saw plows pushing snow. Could’ve sworn you needed at least 2” to do it but apparently they were willing to risk scraping themselves up lol- 1

No snowboard so I’m doing a car top measurement. Sue me. At least it’s not in the muddy grass.
1.25” - accounting for the dumbass part of a ruler that doesn’t start at zero. Feels like a decent local jackpot. Don’t think this is slant sticking BS either… it looks like more than an inch out there. Almost hit the (revised 2x) 1.5” inch bar.- 5

Even had some of the main roads cave. enough to plow I guess, I hear them rolling around. Not bad

Dumping out. One more jebwalk… last of the year?

Looks like the last band. HRRR can nail a bust from range today but can’t even be correct when it wants it to snow til 4am. Sick and twisted stuff.
Want to measure an inch around 3. Eyeball suggests it’s possible. We’ll see- 1

Coming down pretty good in N Arlington. Might have a shot at an inch.
Howdy neighbor!
I think we’ll get there. Greens for another hour likely would. Doubt I’ve got enough powder to sled on, though. Maybe next time… next year- 1
What Went Wrong in Winter 23-24/Base State/Will It Ever Snow Again??

Yep… I’ve come to appreciate how much 2” really is. Pretty appreciable amount when you think about it. @ravensrule
I still think we are due for our BECS. One day we’ll get a dynamic cooling monster just soaking in that Gulf Stream energy with juuust enough cold air.
