  1. can't set expectations any lower than zero even in my interior location with 540'. It's ALL upside baby
  2. some of this may be location specific... at least here the 12z run at 18hrs is saturated to h55 whereas the 6z run at 24 hrs was drying out rapidly above h7. Whether that's just mid level low noise, or it's easing back on the dry air as we get closer is unclear.
  3. yeah, that 3km would take the lowlands out of the game
  4. Yeah apparently covid doesn't care very much about your diet. But that was 5 weeks in and things had been going well to that point. The last week didn't eat much of anything.
  5. I just did 6 weeks vegan, and felt really good for the most part and it wasn't that hard. But I was ready to start bringing in some meat and dairy by the end. I think it's a decent way to do it... not necessarily make it a full permanent life decision but take a few weeks at a time here and there and use it as a cleanse and a way to change things up for a bit, and integrate some principles and cooking techniques into normal weeks.
  6. I get the feeling that the first skin up at 7AM on Friday is great and powdery and the second skin up is sticky and borderline not even worth it.
  7. I'd have to call Downdraft the run of the day at Killington. Moguls nice and well spaced and plenty of snow. OL was good too, but bumps a little tight. Gotta be super quick.
  8. UMass up 3-0 in the 2nd in the NCAA hockey final Edit- 4-0 after 2 Edit- 5-0 final! National Champs!
  9. Killington was pretty sweet today. Melt down in style, water water everywhere. Get out and walk, no problem. A good chunk of the hill was open and still offering slushy bumps and snow cone consistency underneath. Not sticky in the least. Great to get that one more big day in, now we can move on.
  10. Hope DMX can somehow pull through. Reports aren't good.
  11. We skied Castlerock and hiked the long trail to Heavens Gate on 1/20/16 with 10-12" new and it was good, including some woods. But yeah I think that was the only day of the year. That's an F. This year was well above normal skiing at Berkshire East, fwiw. Solid B+. A at the peak. One big storm away from true epicosity.
  12. This. It's been great but it's near the end on the sunnier aspects.
  13. FWIW I didn't see any enforcement of masks at the Bush yesterday, and the lifties and patrollers I was talking to were feeling just fine. Maybe skulls were getting cracked in some stressy base area maze, but up on the hill the folks in dragon suits, sports bras, kimonos, and one piece 80s getups were otherwise compliant and once that chair departs it's bar down and masks off. And at any rate, does anything resound of good health quite so much as a ski crowd on a beach day in the spring?
  14. If wearing masks while actually skiing downhill is anything more than theater, expect a big outbreak after today.
  15. 2014/2015 was similar up north where they missed the brunt of the coastals but the powder piled up and didn't thaw
  16. Always enjoyed Craig and Larry. Miss the creature though.
  17. I heard coastal SEMA, location tbd, 18-24 mos downtime. How bout BOGO and a site at BDL or CEF?? Not saying I don't love the ALB soundings....
  18. Just heard that the CHH raob site has experienced significant, rapid erosion, and will be decommissioned at the end of the month.
  19. Yep. One of the greatest. A New Englander too. I once saw him and tipped my cap in Naples ME. RIP
  20. Quintessential spring bluebird out there today. Absolutely fantastic.
  21. Hate it when you're cruising on a shady trail side and suddenly at high speed you traverse a low angle sunny spot... Topheavy feeling ftl. That's when the hour you put in with the iron, the scraper, and warm weather wax becomes well worth it.
  22. Just ski Devils Fiddle from noon to four and zero complaints.
  23. Agree although will have to monitor cloud cover trends. Cheer for sun.
  24. I don't think folks should read too much into Saddleback numbers in year one back, with Covid quarantine rules in place. Let's see in 2 or 3 years if visits haven't grown.
