  1. Still...very anemic precipitation in the cold sector though.
  2. Getting there, wolfie. Looks like what you and I talked about with it being shunted east instead of going north.
  3. Pretty much every system this cold season has lacked precipitation in the cold sector. Thus, only higher elevations and the moose in northern New England have benefited...
  4. I will take that! Currently some snow mixing in with the rain here with a temp of 34/35.
  5. I thought for sure that the snow we got earlier this week would melt today, but am surprised that it survived. Still have a 4 to 6 inch glacier base (except for the usual quick melting places.) Don't think we will have much, if any, left over after this stupid cutter. Start all over again on Saturday!
  6. I'll eat my hat if you don't see snow covering the ground for at least some time over the next week.
  7. Eh, people can get frustrated....December has not had much excitement...but that is the case pretty much all over the country right now. We fared better than many, but have joined the club of blah after these past several weeks. As several have said, this is primetime Lake effect season...and many now see December as wasted. I can tell you're an eternal optimist, wolfie. It balances out the over-negative.
  8. It seems so much easier to get a crap pattern than a good one...especially this decade.
  9. Dave, I was looking at all of them too. No, nothing big...but there will be flakes flying with some white on the ground in many areas.
  10. Yeah, I noticed that it goes due north, then due east. We need something to block it from moving north too much. Icon model has the low much farther south than the GFS.
  11. Not sure what you are looking at? Yes, this month has been BORING...but I think many of us in Upstate will have SOME snow on the ground for Christmas. Most models are showing some energy swinging through on Christmas Eve.
  12. Is the Euro showing the same extreme cutter for the end of the week? Seems like good consensus amongst the others.
  13. These weekly cutters are getting rather irritating....... The one at the end of next week looks awful. GGEM has the low waaaay up in Minnesota.
  14. Oh, I like that NAM run for the weekend! Puts me in the bull's eye. I would gladly take 8 inches of snow before Christmas. Maybe keep it there and expand that area for more to enjoy....
  15. Especially when you get some northerly components to the wind field.
  16. That doesn't count. You don't get real lake effect snow....
  17. I will be visiting family in PA, so I am thinking green Christmas for me...except possibly when I visit the ones on the Allegheny Plateau.
  18. I think the plow guys are getting restless here in Redfield. Just heard them go by. Other than some light snow this afternoon, we haven't had anything new since they plowed this morning. They are ready for some fun action!
  19. Man, sometimes you read these AFDs and get that feeling the met who writes it is intentionally being as negative as possible about snow chances and crushing the dreams of those hoping for a White Christmas. The AFD comes across like there will barely be any snowfall anywhere. Has the forecaster looked at the models? Most of BUF forecast areas looks to get some snow.
  20. Lancaster County is the perfect definition of Piedmont. The geography of gently rolling hills mixed amongst flatter lands.
  21. There's the secondary I was talking about the other day....
  22. Thanks for responding, Nut. You guys move on quickly. I am amazed at how much precipitation you all have had this year. My bro lives near Pottsville in Orwigsburg, and that area had so many training rain events.
  23. Gotta love a winter where everyone is in panic over a Polar Vortex. "It got cold. It's the Polar Vortex. It snowed. It's the Polar Vortex. What's a Polar Vortex? I don't know, but I hate it because....It feels like winter. "
  24. Lol...the church here in Redfield even has about 75 that attend it. The people in this area are more involved in the community than you might think. I have met lots of good people.
