  1. I swear Rochester has some of the worst drivers in Upstate New York... Thruway is a slushy mess...6 cars in ditches in Rochester section.
  2. Sleeting south of Rochester. Traffic going 25 to 40 mph.
  3. Lots of ice on the side of the road in Batavia. Looks like it was a sleet/freezing rain mix.
  4. Via the webcam, looks like it is coming down as heavy snow in Bville...for now, at least!
  5. Whoop, there it is. Taint almost never fails...look at it zooming into the Syracuse area...
  6. Heavy icing at the Buffalo 290 toll booth. Thankfully most people are not driving like morons.
  7. I Thanks! Only started seeing ice on trees just north of Hamburg exit. Things iced over pretty good here at Lackawanna toll booth.
  8. Lol...I noticed your enthusiasm! I have been checking out the Bville webcam. Snowing hard there!
  9. Odd that BGM seems to have lowered the totals on their updated snowfall map. Near Dunkirk now. Heavy rain and mid 30s. I will post updates as we trek east on the Thruway.
  10. Mix line almost always goes farther north than predicted. However wind is from the East..so that should hold the movement of warm air a bit.
  11. Checking out the NWS FB pages, it looks like all sleet and freezing rain being reported around New York. Pretty much no snow falling. Warm air winning? Per usual?
  12. Yikes... thanks for the update...About 2.5 hours from Buffalo right now.
  13. Got an early start from Columbus this morning. Is the Thruway road surface usually warm enough to not have issues from freezing rain? A bit nervous about that...
  14. I'm in northern Onondaga County, north of Baldwinsville by a few minutes. Right now we are renting, but patiently looking for a home around where we are currently at, over to the Phoenix area, and to the south side of Fulton. I like this location, as I work in "downtown" Baldwinsville. It's a quick commute, closer to good Lake effect opportunities, and rural...but yet still close enough to all the big box stores in Clay and Destiny USA. Plus, I find Bville to be a very cute village. The hardest part for me is adjusting to the Upstate NY attitude. I find New Yorkers, in general, to be cold and not very friendly. Sort of aloof and in own little worlds. I am a very personable individual...so I struggle with that a bit. I have made some great friends though...and once people here open up, they are very loyal friends.
  15. Thunderstorms down here at my sis in law's in Tennessee today. On our way home tonight and tomorrow morning. Looking forward to going from this muggy 60 degree weather to hopefully a nice snowstorm!
  16. BGM going big...Winter Storm Warnings for whole viewing area (except Steuben) 9 to 15 inches for Syracuse metro
  17. In reading BUF's most recent forecast discussion, they seem pretty unimpressed with this system in terms of winter weather. "1 to 3 inches in part 1 east of Rochester"..."mixture"..."2 to 4 tomorrow night." Mention of "12Z runs showing bigger push of warm air."
  18. Perhaps they see things the rest of us don't see. I would go with more conservative forecasts at this point...and be pleasantly surprised if the heavier amounts do materialize. Less disappointment and heart ache.
  19. Well, BUF's advisory for Oswego says 6 to 11 inches. That doesn't sound like a miss. It's the NWS's reasoning that often prompts questions.
  20. They seem pretty set on sleet and freezing rain mixing in.
  21. Oh, I like to hear that! You're more familiar about climate around here. I think I actually like lake enhanced events more than lake effect. Even if you don't get the 6 inch per hour rates, I prefer the consistent downpour of snow that comes with lake enhancement.
  22. And, with waa, that is usually when we mix/switch over to sleet/rain. So, maybe less of that if development can time right.
  23. Whew, I bet there is some heated discussion about the "fate of Massachusetts" on the New England board based on recent runs...
