Been snowing a couple hours here, but absolutely no accumulations, because as usual, the best bands are skipping us .... except this time it's just to the west. No frickin way Syracuse will ever catch up to ROC this winter. -

Oh, come on...just because some of us choose not to participate in political discussion or mockery, doesn't mean we're "Anti-Trump" or "Pro-Trump." Politics bashing and grouping individuals in "camps" just leads to disdain...nothing productive. Let's all talk about something we can agree on (mostly)...this winter sucks. -

So, it looks like tomorrow's system even finds a way to JUST screw the Syracuse area. It neeeeeeever ends. -

Unfortunately, that's because some numbskull will go 90 mph in it, crash, and then blame the state for "not taking care of the roads." So many rules, laws, and taxes are the result of self-centered people and others trying to control the dingbats. -

Nice solid band of snow showers just moved through. Left a thick coating on everything. Been snowing/graupeling for a couple hours now. -

For goodness sake....maybe we'll get an April Blizzard this year....because this screw-job of a winter just isn't working. -

I enjoy going to the beach and enjoying it...however, sitting in the sun and baking for hours does not appeal to me. But, I did enjoy it during my trip to Florida. Just sitting there, taking in some Vitamin D was refreshing, especially going for a swim afterwards. But days of 90 degrees and high humidity does NOT appeal to me. I am just a cool weather person, period. I feel more energized in cool, crisp air. Fall is actually my favorite season...and this is just one of many reasons. We still have some snow left here in the North Syracuse Burbs even. -

Mild, mild, mild. The kind of winter I detest. We've had plenty of these lately. Yawn. Bring on a summer with Low 70 Highs and 50 degree lows... and low dewpoints/humidity. One can dream. -
Some day....I will live there, Bo. Get ready.

Agreed. Isotherm does an excellent job with long range forecasting. -

I like checking out that same source. Looks like Fulton is running pretty close to you this year. -

Lol...in my defense, went out for dinner at Roadhouse last night in Clay and there were some heavy snow showers coming down while we were there. Came out to a fresh inch on my car and we had decent snow showers throughout the night with some additional accums. Spoke with a couple who lives in Granby and they said they must have picked up nearly a foot yesterday. (Probably an exaggeration...but there was banding up that way.) Models had the heavier banding over Northern Onondaga, but that didn't materialize because I JUST had to come back yesterday. -

Crapfest for 5 months. Agree..GOOD RIDDANCE. -
Yeah, it's coming down heavily. 1 to 2 inch per hour snowfall rates in my area. Unfortunately, the heaviest banding is just to my east...reports of 3" per hour under that band. We over-achieved and got 5 inches from the first wave Thursday night, then a lull yesterday, then got caked in freezing rain last night, and have now picked up 5 inches in 3 and a half hours and still coming down hard. Waited all winter for SOMETHING! I'm fairly new to the Syracuse area, and have been told that these tracks have been very rare lately. Seemed to happen much more in the 90s. Thankfully, Lake Effect and Lake Enhancement come into play (but even those have been rare this awful winter.) Average 140 inches a year here. We still have a long ways to go, but this storm should help. Enjoy your snow, Pittsburgh friends!

Wow, you guys have lots more patience than I do. I prefer WINTER in winter. I grew up in Lancaster, PA...so am very familiar with the climate of the Piedmont/Coastal Plain. Vowed never to live in such a mild climate again! The wife has other plans....................

I was in the Tug Hill last winter. The winters have sucked so bad, the economy is being greatly affected by it there. Partially lost my job as a result of it. Now I'm in the North Syracuse burbs where I average 130 to 140 inches a year. More than half of the 45 inches of snow I have received so far came in November. 20 some inches total over December and January, with many thaws has made it very ugly and frustrating for winter enthusiasts up here as well.

How much snow have you guys had down there in your area? We're at least 2 feet below normal up here in the snow belt.
-
That's what I thought. I think I recall you guys getting into the 60s a lot last winter as well.
-
I forget...when did you guys have your first lake effect event last year?
