  1. The inch of sleet/freezing rain I got last night is frozen solid and easy to walk on. You would think it would be slippery...but not really. It is like walking on frozen ground. Enough sleet mixed in to give traction.
  2. BUF had a WSW for Oswego county with 8 to 15 inches. Globals show NE parts of the county getting hit hardest, while mesos show the north central part getting the worst. I know, regardless, the NAM 3k will have the southern half of Redfield getting much less. It seems to have a strong bias with that.
  3. This week just keeps looking worse for snowfall in my area of Oswego County. So sick of NW flow. Businesses around here are going to hurt this winter.
  4. If summers could be 65 to 75 with lows around 50 and no humidity throughout, I would find them much more enjoyable. Once temp goes above 78, I start getting uncomfortable. My wife is like you. She can wear jeans when it is 90 degrees out! Me? I wear shorts when it hits 60.
  5. You and I are so opposite in weather interests...I detest freezing rain and hot weather...and spring and summer are my least favorite seasons. Lol I grew up in South central PA during the 90s. A decade that had some pretty nasty ice storms with strong winds. That sound of trees snapping and falling around the house will always stick with you. Now, I do find sleet storms fascinating. They are rare. I moved back to Lancaster PA for a couple years and was there for the February winter storm of 2007. 6 to 8 INCHES of sleet that froze solid around everything. I couldn't get my car out for a week. That glacier survived days and days of 40s and 50s. It was incredible. Sleet is awful to drive in btw.
  6. Freezing rain and sleet even on much of the Tug now. Lame. Single digits this morning and liquid falling from the sky now. Crunch crunch crunch as I went to check it out.
  7. Bursts of heavy graupel/snow here, and very gusty winds.
  8. My snow lasted longer in the garage than yours does for a day.... lol I drive a Hyundai Santa Fe. Love it. It does amazing in winter weather.
  9. Car was in driveway, so brought it in the garage at 2 today. This is what it looks like 8 HOURS later. This is what you call northern living... lol
  10. How are you Western NYers doing? Looks like some snow coming down now there.
  11. Maybe that's why I am frustrated. The past 4 winters SUCKED in West Michigan with no good snowstorms...and now this. But, they are going on to a fifth crap winter there.
  12. That is my exact memory of snow totals from that wonderful week. I remember listening to the radio as my mom and I left our house in Willow Street to go grocery shopping at John Herr's in Millersville. During the drive, they announced increasing snow totals. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday morning...before a beautiful snowy week!
  13. I wouldn't hold hopes on any big winter storms in the Great Lakes region. Our mojo is warm cutters that sweep up mild gulf air, weak lows that trigger lake snows, and clippers that can be great when the cold air is deep. This year, we haven't had deep cold air sweeping through...so it has been strong cutters and weak, piddly systems. Models are trending less with snow this week and warmer next week. Wait ANOTHER two weeks? Sigh...
  14. Sure hope so. Gives me over a foot. Hard to tell..but think I am at about 15 or 16 inches on that NAM run.
  15. All week, this was consistently shown to drop 6 to 10 inches of snow here on the Tug...run after run showed it. Now the day before it becomes a few inches with ice. These low pressure systems have blown chunks.
  16. Higher elevations SE of Syracuse. Madison county tends to get some upsloping.
  17. I see green grass and leaves. Are you sure this wasn't taken in Pulaski today?
  18. Sure has been. At the same time, I can still see the benefits of moving here, as there has been snow on the ground for two months. But it hasn't been much to play in with the repetitive thaws. Deepest snow pack was almost two feet....BEFORE Thanksgiving.
  19. This year the only cars buried under snow are matchbox cars.... lol Hopefully it changes soon. Is that your new house?
  20. According to locals, we are usually up to the waist in snow here this time of the year. This year? Up to the ankles...barely...
  21. 12Z GFS and NAM look decent for the early week system on the Tug.
  22. Every time I see pics of European snow, it looks like extremely wet, heavy, low-ratio snow. It looks like Mashed potatoes.
  23. This was the view here this morning. Didn't get out of the 30s all day and we held on to much of our snow pack. Living on the Tug is like a whole different planet.
  24. With snowfall amounts decreasing with every run, I bet by the time Monday comes it will be a 1 inch snowfall tapering to drizzle as it lets up. Ready to melt our new snow pack down the next two days, wolfie?
