They came to Northampton once like eight years ago.  Maybe once the casino opens in Springfield we have a shot of getting the eastern folks here?

But will it be OTG for 35 miles?

Very unimpressed with winds here...saw a nice shelf cloud earlier, my son might have grabbed a pic of it

Looked good on radar but did not produce.   I think Tip said earlier that RT 2 corridor was a long shot for any real severe after that first line went through.

  3. 0-3 on the severe.  Had a 10 minute monsoon from the cell that just moved through but very little lightning and almost no wind.  These things keep looking like they are coming in hot and just fade as they approach CT River.    I don't love severe but was at least hoping for a good light show or some hail.

  4. Worcester Co. was definitely the dividing line for haves and have nots.  Big difference in totals from SE to NW.

  5.  Maybe a Met could explain to me the dynamics out here.

I understand the reasons the valley did poorly even under that great band all day but how come the high elevation spots out here didn't do very well either?  Radar said it was snowing hard for hours but highest total in Franklin Co. was 11" and most 1000' + locales were less than that.

  6. That I-91 banding was wasted on the Valley,  it probably would have much better served the hill towns to the east or west.

The Euro QPF was probably pretty close to reality out here, .6-.7" is what it showed consistently.  We wasted a lot to poor growth and thermal profiles that were likely a degree or two higher than modeled.

I'm wondering how some of those really low totals in the valley were measured.  I know they got less snow but I had a wide variety of measurements whether I measured on pavement, cement, grass, car, picnic table, truck bed or on my snowboard.  My "official" spot is my snow board and that's what goes in the record but I also got much lower readings on any of the ground measurements so I'm wondering if some of those measurements reflect measurements on the ground as opposed to a board?

Nice light snow now...hopefully add some more overnight.

I  made two measurements today on a cleared picnic table to come up with my 6" but only have 4.5" otg.  Anybody measuring on pavement or waiting all day is probably under reporting what they got in the valley.
