Only thing we have here are greenheads but that’s more at the beach. Other than that it’s just the mosquitoes.
Greenhead and "horsefly" bites hurt like a MF though!

No joke, it seems like there’s 3 buzzing you at once for 2 hours.
They thrive in this 70F dew, warm/sunny, stagnant air.
That's their jam. W MA has had a lot of precipitation at the wrong times the past few years but our dry periods have timed well with regard to stinging/biting insects. This year there are more mean pests than the past few but my Vermont friends have been chirping loudly about them the past few weeks.

Something about that part of the valley in recent years.
Not the case over here. I'm needing to do driveway repairs after multiple heavy downpours
Except for some localized flash flooding two summers ago, Franklin County has gotten screwed with precipitation summer and winter.
Even that stretch of a dozen rainy weekends in a row it was just crappy weather without a lot of precipitation.. -

There’s no way that’s accurate in VT and upstate NY is there?
I’m at like 7” since June 1.
It’s definitely accurate for most of W MA.
Have not really had good rain for a few weeks. -

Shower earlier but just cloudy in Falmouth now.

I'm in Falmouth so hoping the axis of heavy precip is from central CT through Boston tomorrow morning. Comfy night here.

Not easy to do at 1100'.
I’m not sure MPM ever broke 90° when he was at his old location out in Shelburne.
I would consider moving to that area more for the winter than the summer breeze, but not many houses and certainly nothing affordable for us, that I would ever live in.

Yeah. Clouds just rolling in now.
I had been hoping for a heat wave but each day fell short.I’ve only had one heat wave so far. Several close calls, but we get stuck in the upper 80s because of cloud cover.

85 here. 90F at KFIT
High of 87° so far in Greenfield. I’m sure we would’ve broken 90 but it’s always mostly cloudy now.

I know CT has gotten crushed, but not much rain at all this month up here....lawn has slowed down as a result.
Lawns around here are actually starting to brown out a bit. Very little rain so far in July.

It’s been a warm but overcast stretch here in the upper Valley the past few weeks.

Looking at some of those river gauges the rises were unimaginable...so many gauges that literally shot up like 20 feet in less than an hour. Absolutely horrific.
Crazy fast!

Pushing 90 here. Lots of clouds and showers.
We had about an hour of sun this morning and cloudy ever since. Low to mid 80s on all of the local stations.

Wow, I just saw that the death toll in that Texas flood is over 80 now. It’s crazy to have a death toll that high from flooding in a relatively small area.
The water must’ve come in like a wall.-

I know a lot of SNE had some good rain this week, but I have to admit, lawns are starting to look a little crispy in Franklin Co.

July 2025 Obs/Disco ... possible historic month for heat
in New England

Days over 90° should probably be double what they are in Greenfield this summer but it’s just always cloudy now.
