  1. dodged bullet, plenty of warning and still the death toll is climbing. Up to 32 as of this evening. (maybe some bad luck but probably a lot of bad decisions) I will say, this reinforces just how difficult it is to get anything much above Cat 2 N of 30 degrees Latitude.
  2. I was up at Savoy SP in the Berkshires this weekend and I thought things were still pretty muted and green at 2000'+ Looks like rain is moving in a bit ahead of forecast tonight.
  3. Give it another day and the national media will have stopped paying attention yet the floodwaters will still be rising and causing heart ache.
  4. I mean c'mon this is serious business. 5. The aftermath in coastal communities will be met with "but, but it was only a Cat 1 when it came ashore".
  6. Wow, Wilmington and surrounding counties just getting hammered by rain bands,
  7. Yet, affecting such a large area that it is an anomaly in the TS analogs.
  8. Jeezuz, just tuning in to actual news so this is the first I've heard of it. WTF is going on?
  9. It's massive and dangerous, nothing else to say really.
  10. It is massive and it's going to wreak havoc on the coast.
  11. To be fair, everyone is at the mercy of model output to some extent. Edit: also, where are you coming up with barely a category one?
  12. There are going to be a lot of bunk cars on the used market in a few weeks and there are going to be a lot of stray dogs up for adoption. My younger rescue is a hurricane Harvey refugee. We don't really have space for a third rescue or I'd go for it.
  13. The question is can it strengthen and retain that girth of storm force winds. Massive storm.
  14. The way they have crammed houses onto that beach front they are going to lose a lot more than their pier.
  15. I can't even imagine the anxiety for the folks waiting on a long duration hurricane with tornadoes being a constant threat.
  16. Then there is always the 20+ hours of tornado threats.
  17. Looking a little better than it did a few hours ago though. I was reading somewhere else so that the ULL over Florida created shear that hindered Florence yesterday. Was that something that models were not picking up on?
