  1. High atmospheric ash with a heavy marine layer underneath. My buddy said the air quality is not actually that bad right now but it’s dark as can be.
  2. I am about to do an outdoor meet and greet right now with our teacher.
  3. I will ask him to send some, he said the sky is basically black and orange this morning.
  4. Haven’t really noticed here but my friend in San Francisco just texted me and said between the fog and the smoke at 9 AM it is basically like night time there. Surreal.
  5. My p/c from NWS is pretty meh with the rain. Fine with me, dry is better now that garden is winding down.
  6. Glad I held onto my NKLA stock during the carnage.
  7. Hey heads up to Connecticut peeps my vet said that Fairfield County has reported the presence of Gulf Coast Ticks for the first time. They can carry spotted fever and some nasty canine diseases.
  8. I mowed yesterday and wondered if I'd need to even mow again this year? Prolly just once more.
  9. This is a good deal if you want to hit a bunch of the smaller classic New England mountains. https://www.indyskipass.com
  10. Download the “picture this“ app. It will identity any plant or tree.
  11. That plus being the beneficiaries of countless 20 minute downpours. It was almost daily for like 2 weeks.
  12. Rain deficits are certainly going to creep up again in some areas. I love a warm dry September, summer extended.
  13. NW MA (Franklin and N Berkshire County) had close to 6” but was isolated to this area for the most part.
  14. Part of the infamous “Bridgewater triangle”.
  15. There are only one or two people here looking for a 1938 redux because they somehow cannot comprehend the implications of such an event.
  16. Need a higher res picture to enlarge but maybe a yellow mud-dauber? Unless it is a yellow jacket or white faced hornet nest I try to leave them alone. A lot of hornets and wasps are good for killing non-beneficial insects. "Solitary" ground wasps/hornets are generally beneficial for the local ecosystem.
  17. I have once again given up on lawn maintenance for the year. Focusing on the flower beds and cleaning up downed trees and branches in our woods. In ground vegetable garden was poor at best due to the wet then drought June -> July but containers did fantastic. Next year veggies are all going container and raised bed auto water.
  18. On another note, walking the dog this morning, I could not help but notice that the maple trees are already raining down pale green leaves. Quick foliage season upcoming?
