  1. I believe Franklin Co has more miles of dirt roads than anywhere else in MA. We live on the paved end of Green River Rd but my kid's best friend is up in E Colrain on the unpaved section and the next week or so will be super sketchy driving up there. A road too narrow for cars to pass comfortably at speed with a 20'- 80' drop down to the river on one side. It's the soft mud ruts that are the most dangerous. They can pull an AWD car pretty suddenly this time of year.
  2. Wifey and I were just walking out of one of the local breweries and a gust of wind took out a powerline and transformer. Sounded like an M-80 going off and a bright blue and orange flash. We both jumped. If it had gone off a few minutes earlier, I bet we would not have had to pay our tab since all of the lights on the street went out.
  3. It's been epic on all of the rivers around here. I took a lot of pictures with my my mind but not so many with a camera because a lot of what I saw, was while driving.
  4. Still some snow cover in the neighborhood, so walking the dog, under the near full moon, was pretty bright. No flashlight needed. I love winter but I'm ok if we just fade into Spring now.
  5. Yeah, I’m not sure we even had full cloud cover last night. I’m ready, spring in the valley is nice.
  6. We had a few minor earthquakes this year, so that was fun! I am anticipating a disappointing, severe season, a mundane but warm summer and a boring hurricane season.
  7. Walking around downtown Northampton was pretty nice with 52° and no wind.
  8. Same here, 24° low. Should be an impressive turnaround in temperatures today.
  9. Some sneaky, “fake cold”, already down to 27°.
  10. Time to move on. Really hoping for a dry April and May with slightly AN temps. Very rarely do I not see snow in March but looks like that will be the case.
  11. I’ll probably do the first shorts break out this week. Generally, what I wear from mid-April to early October.
  12. 22° a little bit cooler than I was expecting.
  13. Agree. C grade for Greenfield.
  14. Wut? Has it been that dry down there? I mean obviously winds can spread things quickly but LI wildfires were not on the March bingo card.
  15. At least a few locations in VA were above average!
  16. Pretty good snow shower here, everything coated.
  17. I think we all want April 97 redux regardless of any qualifications.
  18. It’s going to be pretty pathetic if we go the entire month of March without a measurable snow event.
  19. The past hour or so has been the windiest it’s been all day. Currently windy with snow flurries.
  20. Same here, top gust I could find in this area was 28 mph.
  21. The GFS has two rainers for NNE ski country which really sucks. I was hoping for a good March up north.
  22. I can hear the wind roaring up high but it’s been pretty mellow in the valley. Maybe gusting in the 20’s.
  23. Here is the video of the ice jam on the Green River:
  24. Impressive ice jamming on the Green River this afternoon. To give perspective that dam is 8 - 10 feet high.
  25. You better send them your SS # and your bank routing # to be safe.
