Bro, great memory. That would be @The Iceman iirc.
We need some reverse juju. We need to pull out all the stops here.
Past few years I've put my winter jawn up in the house when the Christmas decor comes down. Maybe this year no snowmen figurines, no snow globes, no winter garden flag....pack the snowblower away. Heck, I am willing to sacrifice this new sled to the firepit tonight after a big Penn State win!! I will just tell the kids it got lost in transit. If we can get accumulating 6"+ snowfall this year, I'm willing to keep the Flyers and Sixers championship drought going for another 5 years.
Whatever the heck it takes!

So bored I went back and re-read the January 2016 Blizzard thread to remind myself what it was like on here in the Winter.

We have talked about this before but here in Chester County PA if we can just get through January 3rd without recording a full one inch daily snowfall we will set a new record for longest period between such events - our last greater than 1" snow event was on March 12, 2022 when we recorded 4.3" of snow. The current non 1" record is the only winter in Chester County since 1888 that recorded absolutely no snow at all. So nothing measurable (more than a trace) - this was during the non-winter of 1972-73. During that stretch we went from February 24, 1972 until December 16, 1973 or 661 days without a daily observed snowfall of at least 1 inch.To help hopefully put some of this in context for all of you snow lovers out there....be very thankful you were not around to remember back when we really had true snow droughts. Are you surprised to find out that from the mid-1930's through the late 1950's. Here in Chester County we had not even one above average snow season?? (Current 30 year average 35.9") So for 23 straight winter seasons from the winter of 1934-35 season through the 1956-57 season not one winter season featured above normal snowfall - snow enthusiasts must have been miserable!!By contrast folks today with more recent memories of here in Chester County PA may potentially be surprised to hear that the last 2 complete decades (2000's/2010's) featured two of the top four snowiest decades in our history going back through the 1890's. With my view of typical cyclical weather patterns....it would make one think we are way overdue for some non-snowy winters before the next snowy period sets in. Thoughts??
What I find interesting is that wile the monster snow storms are fun to track and be a part of, (and I think someone already mentioned this) is that we don't have a legit winter of just clippers bringing the 2 inches of snow and cold hanging around. We get the cold and snow shot but then its all gone within 5-7 days and we're back in the 40's.
At this point weenies (like me) would rather have this than stare at 300+hr monster model runs. I am happy there is something to track next week next week, but if it dosen't verify, no biggie. I'm certainly not cancelling winter by any means yet though. Long way to go here. Again the key is patience.

We have a good pattern setting up for Dec 29-Jan 2, then it looks like the Aleutian island ridge comes on strong hr384 on 12z GEFS. By the end of the run, the pattern is transitioning toward possibly a SE ridge.
What could possibly go wrong 384 hrs out?

Had a dusting on the cars , and the roads were slightly wet from our snow shower.
34 degrees.
Depending on what forum you pay attention to, Winter is coming at the New Year.

Shame that Sundays storm doesn't have the cold air. Looks like the exact same track as the 1993 storm.

Ironically isn't this the window where ppl were saying we would torch in early Dec? Yet this would be the 3rd time already (4th total) in Dec we see flakes. Trend thus far is it wants to snow. Can't wait to see where we're at 3 or 4 weeks from now.
Don't tell anyone in the other forums this. Their heads might explode.

We got snow, or some type of snow like substance. 31 degrees.

Hoping the power does not go out Sunday night during the Ealges game.
Storm around the 17-18th looks... interesting on the LR.

The jist I am getting is wait till about the 20th to really start seeing Winter kick in which is OK considering the 21st is actually Winter.
Fantasy Land has a storm coming between the 14th and the 17th, but will there be cold air with it?

Who has a hot hand? Someone start the winter thread. I think I did it last year and we know how that worked out
Edit: it was Wiggum. Let’s keep him away from the keyboard for now.
I have nothing to lose here so I could just Leeroy Jenkins it.

Meh. I 'm still going with a repeat of last year. We'll be lucky to get one SECS storm. Apps runners will give the area a Couple of nickel and dime messes in January/February and that's about it.- 1

Channel 6 did their Winter outlook last night. To summarize, they are calling for a backloaded winter which I believe many are already.
18"-24" for the Metro area.
PAC will still have a hold through December then break in January.
She's been spot on last three years so we shall see...

If you notice they actually picked up my Facebook post and a couple ski areas along with Channel 69 referenced my post in this video!. The folks that shared my page drove my weather site to pick up over 1700 new followers since the Saturday post. I am approaching 6k followers. Sadly many seem to not understand the differences between model guidance and a forecast. My constant tagline on the site is "we don't shovel or plow model snow!: but folks don't listen!
I saw this and laughed. Then I began to recognize some of the features on that page and matched it up with you!

November is freaking boring. No hurricanes to track, no chances of thunderstorms, and snow is still weeks away. Looking at the long range GFS doesn’t even give us any fantasy storms. It’s just a brutal month for weenies.
You can just make up stuff for December like they are doing in the MA forum.
32 degrees right on the line when I got in the truck this morning.

I'm just as angry as any other Eagles fan right now so i'll say enjoy the snow while it lasts as the next system melts it all away.
