  1. Currently 38.6/37.9 with rain falling, may not get to 40 today! About 3/4 inch of rain so far. Was 37.3 this morning with light rain falling, temp has barely moved, now THIS feels like late fall or early winter.
  2. Set a new 'warm minimum' at 57.2 degrees, old mark was 55 from 1986. Currently it is mid-June/late August at 58.0/56.1 degrees with mostly cloudy skies at 7:45 am.... sheesh.
  3. My numbers for October 2024- Averaged high was 69.9 degrees vs a normal of 66.9 degrees, a + 3.0 degrees above average. The highest temp recorded was 78.5 degrees on the 14th. Averaged low was 41.5 degrees vs a normal of 41.5 degrees, a 0.0 difference. The coldest temp recorded was 31.0 degrees on the 28th. Overall averaged temp was 55.7 degrees vs a normal of 54.2 degrees, a + 1.5 degrees above average. Total rainfall was 0.61 inches vs a normal of 2.70 inches, a - 2.09 inches below average, and slides it into 3rd driest October ever, with only the incredibly dry 0.02 inches from 2000 and the 0.59 inches from 1991 beating it. There were 7 days with measurable, three days with a 'T' and 21 dry days. Greatest rainfall was on the 1st with 0.33 inches falling. Zero snowfall vs a normal of 0.1 inches. Highest wind recorded was 30 mph on the 15th. Two new records, a new 'cool max' set on the 17th and a 'warm minimum' set on the 1st. A sort of warm and VERY dry month. Records date back to October 1979.
  4. For now- BWI: 22.8" DCA: 18.7" IAD: 21.7" RIC: 11.7" Tiebreaker LYH 8.9"
  5. DCA: +1.7 NYC: +1.4 BOS: +1.1 ORD: +1.2 ATL: +0.7 IAH: +0.6 DEN: -0.4 PHX: -0.2 SEA: -0.4
  6. Hmm, clouded over about an hour ago and some sprinkles in last 10 minutes. A 'T' but wondering if it will add up enough to measurable to add to the whopping 0.08 I've gotten since 10/3..... Currently 66.8/47.2.
  7. Bit warmer this morning at 37.7/35.0. Looks like a pretty decent inversion ongoing out this way, above 3500 ft is in mid 50's, all the way down in valley floors (1100 ft) just right at freezing. I sit about 300 ft above the low spots. EDIT, just checked a bit north, same. Canaan NWR sitting in the bowl at 18 and the ridges right at 50.
  8. I'm MUCH MORE concerned about what wind values would produce those numbers....
  9. Not as chilly this morning at 34.4/32.7, but the rare heavy frost has happened here. Usually there is just the faintest of a breeze to keep air moving and frost from forming, today absolutely still air and frosty.
  10. First official freeze of the season here at 31.1 degrees.
  11. At 3:45 I am sitting at 48.9/34.4. Record 'cool max' for the date is 50 from 2009, so if it stays here I'll have a new record. The record low is 27 (1995), forecast is 30 so maybe not a record there unless we bust low on forecast.
  12. Are we doing a first freeze contest this year?
  13. Down to 35.4 here this morning, been colder already this season. A cloudy and raw day with several rounds of sprinkles/drizzle and mist and a 51.3 high with NW breezes. Fun to see the flakes on the cameras higher up, getting closer!!
  14. Flakes are a flying at 'Shoe and Canaan on the cams.
  15. Yep, running behind and muted so far too, although last 2-3 days color has improved a good bit.
  16. Temp 43.1/39.8 here at 7 am with light mist and drizzle. Clouds kept temp up, but I'll go ahead and say that the 'growing season' will end for those that didn't lose it in my neck of the woods when we had the 33-35 frosty morning the other day.
  17. We are only a day off the 45th anniversary of 10-10-79.
  18. Currently 35.4 at 8 am, bottomed out at 35.0 around 6:15 this am. Patchy frost visible. Record for date is 28 from 1994.
  19. So, for some reason I managed to put pics in Sept thread, lets try again lol. Was up at Hot Springs airport (KSHP) about 4000 foot elevation. Amazing up there!
  20. VERY late, but my numbers for Sept 2024 Averaged high was 76.0 degrees vs a normal of 76.9 degrees, -0.9 degrees below average. The warmest day was the 23rd with an 85.8 degree reading. Averaged low was 54.5 degrees vs a normal of 53.7 degrees, a +0.8 degrees above average. The coldest day was the 9th with a 39.5 degree reading. Overall averaged temp was 65.2 degrees vs a normal of 65.3 degrees, a -0.1 degree below average. Total rain for the month was 8.50 inches vs a normal of 3.55 inches, a +5.15 inches above average and 3rd wettest Sept I've recorded, falling behind 2018's 9.56 inches and 2004's 9.42 inches. Wettest day was the 28th with 2.72 inches falling. There were 14 days with measurable, 4 days with a 'T' and 12 dry days. highest wind recorded was 40 mph on the 27th. Plenty of new records for the month. Start with 2 new rainfall records, the 2.72 inches on 28th and the 2.55 inches on the 26th are records. Two new 'warm minimums' on the 24th and 27th. Three new record lows, all in a row on the 9th, 10th and 11th. Month started warm and dry, turned cool in the middle, then back to warm and quite wet towards the end. Records back to Oct 1979.
  21. Down to 37.4 here this morning, seeing a few temps near freezing on CO-OP's in area. I feel like I returned the weather with me lol. Was in SD, WY and UT for a couple weeks, most mornings were like this, near freezing in the mornings and in 60's/70's during day, EXCEPT for those two dreadful days in Rapid City (Rushmore and Crazy Horse) when temps soared into mid and upper 90's!!
  22. Heading out of town for a couple weeks, here are my picks for October. DCA: -0.6 NYC: +0.4 BOS: +1.1 ORD: -0.9 ATL: -1.2 IAH: -0.2 DEN: -0.6 PHX: +1.8 SEA: -0.3
  23. Set a new 'warm minimum' this morning with 63.8 degrees, old mark was 63.0 from 2009.
