The heat waves in the 1930's are very interesting. I read about them a year or so ago more in depth. Basically our poor farming methods out in the midwest were completely destroying the soil leaving it unable to retain moisture combined with a very dry and hot decade that was only made hotter because we weren't doing the methods we started using after the dust bowl era. It's also interesting too that there were some downstream effects from there constantly being so much heat over the US from this that effected Asia which is neat. But yeah the soil was basically unable to retain moisture which allowed it to get superheated compared to how it normally is. Then after that we started practicing more efficient farming which allowed it to not get as hot. Remember too the 1930's dust bowl era is mostly a US phenomenon besides the downstream effect in Asia I mentioned.

It's been extremely slow. Even right now it takes forever to load in anything.

The days leading up to the 4th look like they're going to be very hot

Finally getting some heavier rain. Okay as I was typing this it just completely stopped LMAO it went from straight pouring to a very light drizzle within seconds. I've never seen that happen so fast before. Basically poured for a few minutes then poof. Nothing.

I swear all these storms just die when they get to harrisburg for the past 2 months

Got a lot warmer today than was forecast. Was supposed to be 83 but got to 86

I do always wonder when PA will see another outbreak like the May 1989 tornado outbreak. It's always a matter of when not if but it sure has been a long time since that's happened. I'm always in the camp of 'nothing ever happens' since that's usually how it is but eventually we'll get a day where that's not the case.

Up to 103 Heat Index values Thur and Friday here. I might have to be outside for hours on Friday so that'll be fun lol

Dew point is atrocious today. Only 81 degrees but it feels like 87

Today should be pretty nice

These models have been laughably bad. I've noticed the temp on Monday climbing up a degree or two literally every single day for days now.

Honestly today feels a lot better than I was expecting after all that heat. 56 currently and very cozy lol Also good to see we might get a lot of rain. Parts really need it bad.

51 on Saturday is going to feel downright frigid

As long as I've got a water source and good AC then I like really hot days like this. Unless I have to be stuck outside in it all day with no way to cool off then it's too much. Probably nostalgia growing up as a kid for me in the 90s and 2000's since my parents had a pool and AC always going in the summer which was really relaxing once you got inside after baking in the heat

96 now. Might be able to hit 97 today I think. Record high for today in Enola was 94 in 1962.

92 already at 1 PM. Dew point around 63 so isn't the worst but definitely a little bit uncomfortable

Very humid today already. Wondering if we see heat index values break 100 tomorrow and Tuesday

4 days of extreme heat and then we go back to low 60s with rain and clouds for 4 days straight lol at least it'll feel nice after the heat

I'm not really bitching about it I guess just having something to chat about that's relatable lmao I don't even really get in the water much at all. My main thing for even saying it is the fact those 2 days will probably be 2 of the hottest days of the entire summer and it happens this early instead of later which is stupid imo. Like if I ever do get in the pool it's only on really hot days like that but I get there's going to be a shit ton of days to get in it lol

Main thing that sucks about it hitting 95 for 2 days straight this early is the pool water is nowhere near warm enough to even take a dip in lmao especially with how cold its been it hasn't had much time to heat up

Geez might get up to 95 on Monday now. Pretty insane to see in mid May. Also with how cold its been for a while it's just going to make it feel that much hotter
