  1. Since we're talking about climate change and its effects I'd like to present to you all some very interesting information that recently came out. Apparently all the insane warming we've been experiencing might not be solely caused by humans but rather by massive influxes of methane coming from the tropics since 2006. Humans are still contributing to the warming and the paper that presents this information even said we don't fully know if this methane issue is the main cause due to the fact we still don't understand why this process is happening. I'm also bad at explaining things so I'll post some information you can all read. It's interesting. Just please don't take this as full proof that humans aren't the main cause. We still don't fully understand everything that is happening. This would help explain why warming has gone off the rails compared to pre-2000 levels https://www.space.com/climate-change-termination-event-end-ice-age
  2. Idalia might not have even been a major when it made landfall. It was one of the most hyped up storms I've seen in years that did way less damage than what was forecast due to it rapidly weakening hours before landfall. There really wasn't any widespread catastrophic damage to warrant it being retired. It also helped it hit one of the least populated areas of Florida. I'd be surprised if it got retired.
  3. I've noticed that happen around here multiple times in the summer. It's very odd. One summer night had a steady rain and there was literally nothing over us lol
  4. One thing to take away from this is how shitty the Euro has been. It completely fumbled this storm and isn't the first tropical track it screwed up on. It's been very bad as far as the tropics is concerned. The GFS has been performing much better. Wondering how much of that will apply going into winter.
  5. If Ophelia had more time over water this would have been a decently sized hurricane imo.
  6. I know some people hate it when it's rainy and dreary all day but it's pretty relaxing for me so I hope it's just a nice moderate rain the entire duration. There's just something about falling asleep to a nice steady rain that's relaxing af lol
  7. 0z Euro is very similar in taking that STS/TS into our area now. First run where it's actually in line with the GFS
  8. What's even funnier with that run there's a hurricane right behind that other one lmao
  9. My favorite part so far is seeing all the people that 100% confirmed the storm was OTS 10 days before the storm hits are finally caving in to it potentially hitting now lmao
  10. 00z GFS is looking very similar to 18z. Has Lee taking a left hook into New England
  11. That'll be so nice. I'm getting sick of running the AC day and night lol
  12. What are the odds we would get storms like Jova and Lee within days of eachother in both basins. This is wild.
  13. Here's an even better one for the people who are acting like there are no southwest shifts. That's almost 2 days worth of ensembles
  14. I still can't believe theres a heat advisory here in September lol Also I've been fully glued to tropical storm Lee because I'm really into the tropics. Right now I don't think it's anything we'll have to deal with but I saw a few mets and pro forecasters completely writing this storm off like it was guaranteed it wouldn't be a potential issue for the east coast like New England or Canada. I wasn't even going to say anything because it's still way too far out and so much is going to change with this track but already you're seeing the GFS and Euro shifting west and south model run after model run and a couple more of those happening then it could effect the coast. Also this thing has some insane power potential with some intensity models taking it to a category 5 so I'd be just interested in following it for that reason alone
  15. Not only is the 0z Euro more north than NE now but it's more west than the 12z by a decent margin. All it takes is a few more shifts like that to make it a threat on the euro so should be interesting to see how things develop since we're so far out. It's been a while since we've had a long tracker like this that has a slight threat to the US
  16. It's pretty impressive that the hottest heat this summer around here is happening in September
  17. lol it's september first and weather channel is like AUTUMN HEATWAVE!! who even considers the beginning of September autumn? I know it's the official start of meteorological fall but come on
  18. 95 for 5 days in a row in the beginning of September is pretty impressive. Would tie the records for a lot of areas for September 4th, 5th, 6th and the 7th.
  19. The AC in my school was wonky and broken so often that it was too cold inside even when it was really hot outside lol. People would have to wear hoodies and jackets in May
  20. Looks like the potential to tie or break our record highs in some locations on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
  21. Absolutely beautiful hurricane. Also impressive as hell that this thing is as strong as it is this far north
  22. Same. It's been pretty impressive. One person I follow who lives in Oklahoma City had their AC system in their building break and nobody's around to fix it despite it 'being an emergency' where they live so they've been melting lol. Oh and it looks like this heat isn't letting up either
