i spent many nights staying up late to see what the euro said. i should not have gotten suckered into a storm unless it was absolute certain it would be a big snowstorm for the city

A negative epo would have been nice.
Once again the models sucked us all in
What has happened to the models ?
even when you had the dec 2010 blizzard a day before on the models it looked like the biggest snows would be far eastern long island and not the city

Some of us can add another decade above that. I remember the fun days with Tex and Uncle Weathbee,. I also remember the night Frank Field blew a snow forecast and the news crew pelted him with snowballs when he came on that night. Johnny Carson loved to use him in his monologue he would call Frank the crack NBC meteorologist who tonight, predicted lava coming out of the top of the Empire State Building. I remember Joe Bolton as an early TV weatherman using a grease pen. That was a bit before he became Officer Joe. As always ....
field is 97 still alive....

Can we stop posting this?
The region gets 20-30 inches of snow per year.
Let’s stop making it sound like we live in Jacksonville.
it is perfectly legitimate to expect and look forward to snow of some sort in the NYC metro
nyc got far less then 20 inches of snow last year....
-
if you want to have snowy winters from now many of us should consider moving either to the snow belts or northern newengland.. cause it won't be happening like it was the last 20 years in the city and surrounding areas ..

Isaias winds were definitely stronger and more sustained. Isaias was the biggest windstorm since Sandy, it'll be tough to top that one.

The last long stretch of horrible winters was 1979-1992. We’ve been pretty lucky ever since then, especially the period from 2000-2015.....
we had some nice snowstorms in such winters.. you mentioned...

Arguably one of the best looking storms on record in the Satellite era with some of the most robust estimates... and that happens. Well I’ll be dammed.
dorian looked 10 times more intense on satellite..

according to the tropical expert on the weather channel greg postel he said a hour ago the said the storm maxed out already and on satellite looks like it may be weakening shear dry air. etc etc..
