Peak gust here now up to 40mph.

1.15 inch of rain so far here.

Average speed here 17mph. now gusting to 34mph. Numerous gusts now over 30. This is at my house, anemometer 33 ft high with a non obstructive southern view. Winds are out of the south so I should be getting accurate readings. JFK, like down at the beach, is open with little to obstruct the wind.

It has been so cold up north this winter, the Bering Sea ice extent is actually within the normal range of the 1981-2010 median.
