  1. Not really finding any official wind gusts that approach 60mph which was what the storm was advertised as at its peak. Of course that is over the ocean. All the locations I checked were in the 30s and 40s for peak gusts. Can you imagine how anemic some of these other named storms must have been when they had sustained winds of 40-45.
  2. Checked some local observations on peak wind. Central Park 28, La Guardia 38, Islip 40 and leading the way JFK with 45mph. I had 37mph at my house.
  3. Center looks to be inland along the central NJ coast.
  4. I am about 7 miles west of Farmingdale airport and I received 1.30 inches of rain so far. Peak gust 37mph.
  5. Not much rain here but the wind has really picked up. Total rain so far .63 of an inch. Recent wind gust 35mph.
  6. To the east-southeast of the center, out over the ocean, there appears to be a lot of thunderstorm activity. This would look to pivot over long Island and eastern New England if it holds.
  7. Wind starting to pick up, gust to 28mph. So far .44 inch of rain.
  8. Heavy rain moving thru here, winds only gusting to 23mph. so far.
  9. Maximum sustained winds with Fay at 11A.M. update 60mph.
  10. Atlantic City airport reporting wind gust to 44mph.
  11. After a few very light showers earlier, the steady rain appears to be starting here.
  12. Were up to the "F" storm and I think they all have been like this.
  13. New Jersey shore should be windy. I am wondering if those areas that received the heavy rains recently could have some flooding problems.
  14. I think Long Island will get on and off heavy tropical showers and potential storms with windy conditions. New Jersey not much wind with a more steady heavy rain.
  15. Atlantic City airport reporting heavy rain, wind ENE at 22mph gusting to 33mph.
  16. Easterly breeze here slowly picking up, 15mph gust.
  17. Strongest winds east of the center, Long Island and Ct.
  18. They also name storms that are anemic or even sub-tropical. Years ago some probably would not have been named
  19. NHC center of cone right over the NYC area.
  20. Looks like low getting organized just east of Hatteras.
  21. Are you saying it has been named as a tropical storm?
  22. If the storm goes west across NJ, still a big if, the severe outbreaks could be over Long Island and Ct.
