Still pretty humid out today. I don’t mind it…but it was noticeable. Looks like some storms forming near dc, tapping into that leftover moisture.

Drove through the monsoon on rt 70 east towards 29 this morning. Some cars were pulled over. That was the kinda rates I saw Wednesday evening. Still early August, so maybe we can weasel our way into another tropical situation this year.

Hardest rain here was Wednesday night. Since then, it’s been mostly just moderate showers. Little more breezy now.

This is basically a majestic rainfall. Gonna be over an inch here, i would assume. Looks like some other cells building from the 270 split precip factory.

It's a pulse-y line, but all it takes is getting under one cell. These things are putting down the goods.

Straight up monsoon outside rn. Maybe the heaviest downpour I've seen since I moved here. This will help the water table here, no question about that.

Got rain shadow'd a bit yesterday. The combo of the Catoctin's up the street from me and the valley down the street, is a force. Side note...DESI (ensemble scenarios) was mentioned at the AMS meeting yesterday (I was fortunate to attend this via work). Got invited to the ams community conference today. First time attending one of these. Interesting discos centered around data/AI and topping off with how to improve nwp as well as public/private collaboration.

I got snookered here, too. Did better the day before.

Getting mostly fringed so far today. It’s rained but not much.

Overall, this type of ULL is better for our areas…get that moisture banked up against the lee side of the mountains instead of getting skipped over.

Just heard some thunder in the distance. This is my kinda day...absolutely primo basketball weather (unusual to have such little breeze in Frederick) and enough sun/humidity to fuel storms with a nice vort passage. I'd take this 6 months out of the year, easily.

Luckin' out so far. Another round incoming. Regional-wide rains are kinda uncommon this time of year...we just haven't even had enough hit/miss opps.

Productive downpour moving through. Obviously, it won't amount to much since it's quick moving, but might be a 0.25-0.5" type.

That next vort dropping in from the Midwest by Saturday looks intriguing (albeit weakening on approach)...prime trajectory with a stagnant airmass leading into it.
